I had a question for you guys, which do you prefer Splenda or Stevia?

Is it a question of taste or is one better for you than the other?

I prefer stevia, since it comes directly from a plant. The taste, took some getting used to for me.

Do not use splenda.

Here are several excellent reason not to:

I hate the taste of stevia, I go with Splenda. Something's gonna kill me anyway and I expect it to a crazy ex-boyfriend long before Splenda.

Not to get too off topic, but if Splenda and its counterparts and sugar aren't good for you, what about honey? It's natural.

ITA. I'd rather have pure sugar than those artificial sweeteners. They are worse than sugar.

IA. If I just have to make something sweeter, I'd just much rather use a natural form of sugar than something artificial.

I've gotten away from sweetening everything though...I just eat stuff as it is most of the time. I think in this country we always have to season everything to death...so much so that we can't even stomach how a food naturally tastes. there's something backwards about that to me...

i think with any form of sugar moderation is key. honey is fine but too much of it is not going to do you any better than refined or artificial stuff.

Splenda is really bad. I've never tried stevia but I recently gave up splenda when I discovered (during a summer project on false advertising) that splenda is chlorine (the sugar molecules are converted to chlorine) and is more chemically similar to ddt than sugar, 15%+ stays in your body, and the 2% unpurity of the product means exposure to heavy metals and arsenic. Plus, they have never done long term human studies on the product (the longest study was three months). I'm not a health nut or a worrywart but all of this information made me realize that though anything can kill me, a few calories saved isn't worth it. My two cents is that the FDA was really asleep at the wheel when they approved it and one day this failure is going to bite in the buttock. I might give stevia a try but I really want to cut out the sweets all together.

ITA!! Just enjoy the real thing . . .

Same goes for so-called butter substitutes, like margarine, etc., I just use butter and enjoy 'cause the substitute is actually worse for you!

Girl, the FDA is "asleep" on a lot of things. They don't care about product safety. They care about the companies lining their pockets with cash.

Stevia tastes like strong sweet and low to me, and I don't really like it, although I use it, usually mixed with Splenda. I don't use a lot of pure sugar because it takes a lot of processed or raw sugar to make something taste sweet to my tastebuds. I do use Splenda, but I use it in limited quantities.

Actually one of the best sweeteners to use is pure maple syrup (any grade, although I use grade B). It obviously comes from a plant, and it's unprocessed. I use maple syrup instead of many sweeteners.

You ain't never lied if you saw the lawuits stemming from things the FDA approved.
