Any one ever heard of this technique. Supposedly it's how all the stars lose weight quickly. These wraps are supposed to detox your body and firm and tighten your skin giving a toned apearence. The solution put in the wraps is supposed to hepl your body shirk its fat cells resulting in a slimmer lokk almost instanly. They were only done at high end spas until recently.

I have heard of these. there are two main types ones which draw water out...in which case when u start drinking again you put the inches back on. And the other type which removes the toxins from between the fat cells. THEY DO NOT DRAW FAT OUT. Fat cells are larger than any pores on your body so they cant be drawn out...whereas toxins can.
the best ones are obviously the latter type.
they are good and can give you the extra boost you need to maybe get down to the gym...

I had a body wrap a few years ago..and yes you do lose inches fast, but it is all water. And it only a temporary fix.... The main reason why I did it was because the wrap I got, you have to detox your body first with teas and supplements (you have to do it a week in advance). And the sweating of the wrap just brought out the last bit of impurities. I will admit, I felt great, but the inches lost came back once I put water back in my system. This was my experience..so I am not sure if everyone feels the same as I do.

Is this something you can do at home?

This was mentioned on a recent issue of Women's World but the steps seemed so complicated that it seemed easier to just go to a spa and get it done. I did also see it mention on Extra where people were claiming to lose up to 20 inches all over after doing this. God bless you all.

It's all water loss.

I had a body wrap this year for my birthday. While I did lose 16 inches...it was temporary  Of course I knew it would be. It's a qucik fix though, if you want to get in a special outfit that maybe and inch or two would make a difference!

It's all water loss.

But it also removes toxins. The inch-loss is indeed temporary, and even shorter lived if you don't follow instructions. You have to be selective about what you consume afterwards. I had it done some years back so I could fit into this tight number for a night out. :p Wasn't much fun coz I couldn't indulge in any drinks but orange juice that night. Also I recall the other instructions were to drink lots of water to further help with the detoxing. If you can afford it, it's not a bad "treat" to give yourself, even if just for the detoxing parts. I seem to recall someone saying you can buy a kit and do it at home, but I'd recommend getting it done at a spa coz we all could do with a li'l pampering... Just relax and enjoy!

ETA: Junk food after the wrap is also a no-no. :ohwell:

According to this: http://www.mellowmeout.com/bodywrap.php and others (in google search for 'long term body wrap') you have to do several of them (the ones that remove the toxins) to get results that last. It will cost you a couple hundred to do several at a spa. From the google results there are home kits.

I've had it done. It is not at all worth the money. Basically, you sweat a little bit and the wraps just keep you shrunken for a few hours. Use saran wrap at home, better results.

and, no it does not detox you. You could hit the sauna at your gym and do better.
