To start fighting the aging/wrinkling process?

Because I have oily/combination skin, I don't worry about wrinkling badly.

I'm only 24, but when should I start to incorporate, say, an undereye gel or cream? And, should I be using a nightime moisturizer, with say retinol, that's different from my daytime one?

I know diet, exercise and sleep are the best ways to stay fresh, but sometimes mother nature needs a little "help." ;)

I am 26 and I started at 25 because I read that now is a good time to work on preventing the tiny lines etc that lead to wrinkles by late 30's. Retin A is enough to clear my skin and hold off little forehead wrinkles (from genetics- my mom has horrendous lines). I just added Vita K under eye cream because the other products got rave reviews here and a derm in Allure said it was one of the best under eye creams. Prior to that I used kinerase (I had free samples). HTH.

Thanks for the product recommendation!

I use Retin A, too, so I'm not worried about having wrinkles overall. But, the eyes, hands and neck are prone to aging, so I want to start protecting those areas early. I want to look good when I hit the 40s and 50s, and I want to do it without surgery!

24 is a great age to start. I have oily skin, too. I'm 28 - I started using sunscreen with UVA protection when I was 19 or 20. I use Retin-A Micro for my acne. I try to stay out of the sun and I bought a wide-brim hat, but I haven't worn it yet.

I would say the number one thing to do for great skin now and later is to use sun screen daily.

And be careful as far as overdoing it with other products because over time the very products you are using to have great skin can cause you to have skin problems (at least that's what happened to me).

But you can't go wrong with consistent sun screen use!!

I've been putting St. Ives collagen elastin moisturizer around my eyes and on my hands nightly for the last couple of years, I think that will help me fight off wrinkling/aging in those areas (in addition to using sunscreen and everything else previously mentioned). I read that firm youthful skin needs collagen and elastin or something like that :p

I just recently started this year and I am 33. Wrinklefree skin runs in my family for the simple fact that we all have extremely oily skin. But I have always stayed out of the sun and protected when I was in the sun. I am currently trying to stay acne free, since I started the Regime in April and it has been going fine, on colder days my skin has been tight but as summer approaches I am sure the oil machine will be working over time. I drink almost a gallon of water a day and I have gotten back into working out.

I look to all the older people in my family, my mother will be 70 in August and doesn't have a wrinkle, her sisters are wrinkle free and my grandparents on both sides were wrinkle free when they pasted away some in their 80's and a couple in their 90's. Considering most of them picked cotton in the boiling hot sun in the south and didn't have fancy beauty products. My grandmother said the only thing she used was Cashmere Boutique soap everyday and Vasline.

ITA. I started wearing sunscreen daily when I was about 14. Now I'm 27 and I think my skin looks really good compared to some of my peers. I just started using an eye cream a few months ago and increased my daily SPF 15 to SPF 30. It's never too early to start.

what's the purpose to using an eye cream? is it for under eye dark spots? if so can someone give suggestions.

thanks,
DMarie

The eye cream is to protect the skin under the eyes because the skin is thinner there.

My mom doesn't have the bestest skin, but she's also a soap and water girl. Also, my skin is very different from my mom and sis. I have combination/oily skin (which will probably help keep wrinkles at bay) while they have dry skin.
