Hello Ladies,

I've been taking Biotin (1 a day, 5,000 mcg) for about amonth now.

In the first week, I was very light headed, the next week I was fine. Now here come the rash and breakouts!! :nono:

So I've stopped taking the Biotin becuase I don't care if it makes my hair grow to my butt, my skin is suffering!! And let me tell you, instantly my skin is looking better. I was wondering what you ladies could recommened. My bumps are red. My skin is oily/sensitive.

Thanks in advance.

Some people say Vitamin B5 is good for treating acne...so it might help.

Personally, what I believe is safer and better is to find a complete multi that has good quantities of the supplements you are most interested in and take that. My theory is, in creating a multi, scientists take into consideration how each supp will interact with the others so that they strike a good balance that is both stable and safe to take. Thus a product like say Great Hair (http://www.thevitaminshoppe.com/browse/sku_detail.jhtml;$sessionid$DI3ZCCQYMIZYMCQUAOYCFE QKCQB00GXK?SkuID=6942&BreadCrumbType=SearchResult) which has a large amount of biotin (but not as high as you were taking) might still give you the results you seek but without the adverse reaction of taking biotin alone - plus it has other useful nutrients to nourish your hair. Coz keep in mind, any excess biotin that isn't absorbed is just flushed out of your body which can be wasteful. Sometimes getting just a complete multi (not just the hair ones) may be all you need. I mean, Sherrylove was the first person I saw with long hair when I first joined this forum and I don't even think she takes more than 2 grams (2000 mg) of biotin. After all, supplements only make a difference in your hair growth if your body was lacking that particular supp prior to you taking it. Biotin is in so many foods that you probably get a good amount of it so only need a little more from supps. But don't take this as gospel. That's just my theory. :look:

Thnaks Nonie. :) This info helped out a lot. I'm taking Flaxseed oil, MSM, & Centrum Multi-Vitamin. I do remember GNC Noursihair worked really good for me. I'm going to look into the vitamin B5 as well. :)

That is way to much biotin to be taking, I broke out, so I lowered my dosage and rash was gone...
