Sewing: Has anyone made a bathing suit?!!

I'm curious. I bought a machine recently and it's sooooo fun. I can actually sew two pieces of fabric together!!! :look: I think I want to try making a braz cut bathing suit.

Did you get a pattern? That will be interesting. Making sure you have the right measurements are going to be extra important. :)

lol...I am a designer at heart so I'll make my own pattern. I just need a little inspiration though b/c I CAN go crazy!! Luckily I have my little sister to help me out. She has a good handle on the sewing thing (b/c of her school plays).

Braz cut = me trying to say Brazillian cut in slang :laugh:

I want to make something in green but I'm not sure where to get fabric. Joann Fabrics has its limitations. I may have to head to NYC for what I want to do.

i tried and stopped that elastic can be tricky, then again i'm a starter not a finisher LOL

You know what's funny? I was in Target yesterday and they have knitting kits, and one of the things you can knit is a bathing suit. I was very very tempted.

MsP,I keeping hearing out the tricky the elastic is. Is it that bad? I wonder if there is a secret to dealing with it. I'm still very curious about trying...I also thinking of stealing some inspiration from the Vicki's bathing suit catalog - I just need to get my hands on one.

Cammille, did the knits look cute? I 've seen a couple but they've always looked risque to me.

I like this one but I don't know where I can find this fabric with a similar patter
