Well I went there today and I am officially hooked. Here's why I absolutely love this place

1- its clean: the place is very neat and tidy and organized
2- the prices are soo low- I just got a steam and extraction today and it was pretty much a full on facial- wash, scrub, vitamin e applied and steamed for 10 minutes, facial massage and then blackhead extractions-- all for 40!!!
and they are having a special you can get 2 facials (which is basically a steam/extraction with a mask) for 80-- that breaks down to 40 bucks for a facial,
3- they have a wide range of services- they are pretty up to date with current trends in skin care and their prices are the best I have ever seen (see item 2)
4- they cater to women of color- the staff is either black or hispanic and they are VERY polite and professional-- no attitude at all

overall I am making this place my new skin care mecca. They have several locations in so cal:
sherman oaks, pasadena, mo val, ladera heights, and somewhere in the valley- i think woodland hills.


Ladies please visit and support this business, I think everyone will love it.

I started getting my facials there, the guy at the Carson location Will is GREAT, he really takes his time with you, and really knows his stuff(he's got great super duper clear skin), when I went back for my monthly facial the girl didn't do it right I still at pimples that were oozing, and then she missed some, and the place was noisy because the employees were talking among themselves, I guess it depends on who services you, but anyway, I was a little ticked when I was suppposed to go on Friday, they scheduled my appointment with someone else, I was only going to see Will, when I found out he was out of town I cancelled my appointment until he came back, but after going to my NEW esthetician, I kicked Skin Essence and Will(sweet man, hated to leave him) to the curb and went to a wonderful new place I found, the woman is a Christian and soooo sweet, I ended up getting even better results from her after only my first visit I even told Skin Essence why I cancelled and I ain't comin' back...Sorry for hijacking your thread....

Oh God. I went to Skin Essence on Manchester in Inglewood. Mind you, I am not an expert on facials. But I can tell you that my experience is QUITE different from my other experiences. I have gotten facials, maybe about 10 times and have been to a variety... average places such as The Massage Place and higher end places on vacation in Mauii and MGM in Vegas, the latter two courtesy of my husband. I will probably do Burke Williams tomorrow. But I paid for the two facials special at Skin Essence, because it was so cheap. Well I must say that I never went back for the second, and I am not one to throw away money. Firstly, it was COMPLETELY obvious that the asthetician was alternating between me and another client. I heard them through the walls right next door. So the facial that was supposed to be a certain amount of time.... lies. I would say the facialist spent a total of 15 minutes with me. Secondly, I couldn't even tell what products they were using, cause unlike most places where you walk in and the products are clearly displayed on the shelf... there were nothing on the shelves. Nothing. The facialist brought it in with him lol in a little carrying container. Can we say ghetto. But maybe theft is a concern for them. Oh well. Last but certainly not least, he put ice on my face!!! Yes ICE CUBES were rubbed on my face. Never seen or heard of that, but then again, I am not an expert. I can count on my two hands how many times I have had a facial. So, I never went back. But I think I can guess why they are able to keep their prices so cheap. But to end on a positive note, the place was clean and the reception area was nice.
