Has anybody ever had success with smoothing out scars left chicken pox and acne.

Thank you:)
Is this safe for Black skin?
I have heard that alot of us heavily pigmented people do not qualify for such procesures due to issues of scarring.

exactly thats the same thing i was discussing. Black skin is said to absorb too much of the laser which can lead to burns and perm. scars. Also uneven results. I have been doing research on silicone sheets. They are highly effective on scars and i have been wondering if they will work on poc marks in particular. I think i will buy some of the cheap bandaid or neosporin type patches. They say the more hours a day you wear them the better your results. The expensive ones can be reapplied and worn for months at a time.not sure how many times i can remove/reapply the cheapies.
i also heard a strong chemical peel can help but it can cause black skin to get dark spots. lots of women here do their own peels but nobody has said anything about the effects on poc marks or dark spots that i can think of maybe i need to search the posts

I have a chicken pox mark that was left on my face (and one on my knee) the one on my face is indented. It's a tiny, perfectly circular indented area on the right side of my face a little lower than my mouth- it's the same color as the rest of my face. I used to fill it in like a mole back in the day, now I just embrace it. :) The one on my knee is an actual scar left behind- I'm embrace that too- it's the same color as the rest of my skin also, it's just smooth and shiny.

I have one on my face too. It's on the side near my hairline and it's indented. One time someone pointed out that I had a dent on my face :(....like I don't know that. I'd love to have it smoothed out but I don't think that's possible so I don't even worry about it anymore.

I have over 100 pock marks sprinkled alll over me:ohwell:...I have pretty much embraced them, since I have no other choice. I had a bad case of them for 3 1/2 weeks.
Thankfully they didn't get me too bad in my face (only 4 or 5).

I have one right under eye. Honestly I forget its there...I think its faded over the years. When I was little I used to tell people it was a mole lol.

Mine have faded with time. I had chicken pox about 20 years ago.

When I use spot lightening products I don't even put them on the two pock marks on my face (one close to my nose and the other at the outer corner of my eye, both on the right side), only on acne marks. I figure the pock marks are there to stay--and I had chicken pox about 35 years ago.

peels have helped the smaller acne marks on my face, really smoothed them over...
light peels are easy to do at home.
I have heard of people that have had success with microdermabrasion...
but that's many sessions... they do it by themselves with their at home kits, so it's cheaper.
i definitely would not recommend lasers on black skin..

You too huh? I have them all over my thighs especially, and I really want them to go away! I can't wear swimsuits on the beach and this infuriates me to no end! :wallbash: (I'm not at that embracing stage yet).
*Edit - Goes in search of dermal fillers*

TCA peel on a toothpick is supposed to work over time to make it more shallow.
You can also get dermal fillers.
You have to reingure it to get it to start filling in.

Hmmm, this is interesting. I have quite a few different styles though (did I just refer to pock marks as styles:lachen:). Anyway, some have the indented/crater look, others have a overly shiny surface like a burn (most) and a few flat ones.
I wonder which styles this would be could effective on... I wouldn't mess with them anyway, I would hate to end up more messed up than I already am.

Nope! I am scarred for life. And i had a mild case too.
I remember looking at kids in school and their scars were deep and dark, all over their legs..you could tell they had a bad case of the pox and/or they scratched the hell out of their skin while dealing with it.
It can really tear up your skin if you werent treated properly.

^Mine were bad and I don't think I scratched them much. I just remember every pock, leaving a bad scab (gross I know) and I would find them in my bed when they fell off.

I love my pock mark on my forehead. I wouldn't want to get rid of it.
Now, this acne hyperpigmentation can kiss off. I want to do a professional peel, then do more at home once I see what it is like.

Right:lachen:its weird theyre like war wounds that are to be proud of like "look Ive survived the chicken pox":lachen:especially when your older and you get them... I got them at 15 and I was out of school for 3 weeks so my scars are my proof of battle:yep:
