Hi Ladies,
I'm set to finish my last week of Accutane (yeah!) and I'm at a lost on how I should treat my skin. Right now my skin is super dry so I'm basically washing with cetaphil and applying shea butter (I occassionally put on 2.5 % bp cream). Since I know many of you have taken it, I'm curious to know how your skin currently behaves (did it get oily again) and of course, what routine has keep you clear. TIA.

I took Accutane from May 2004 to October 2004. I've been using this regimen since May 2004, and I decided to continue on with it even after finishing Accutane because it works for me.
Morning:
Cleanse with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
Moisturize with Aveeno Radiant Skin Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15 (Oil-Free. Noncomedogenic. Dermatologist Tested)
Night:
Cleanse with Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar (White) (Sometimes I add a little baking soda if I need to exfoliate)
Moisturize with Aveeno Radiant Skin Daily Moisturizer (Oil-Free. Noncomedogenic. Dermatologist Tested)
Aveeno Radiant Skin Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15 and Aveeno Radiant Skin Daily Moisturizer:
· Leaving skin feeling soft, smooth and naturally healthy-looking
· Improving skin texture
· Evening out skin tone
· Improving skin clarity
· Reflecting light to enhance skin's appearance
· Bringing out skin's natural radiance

Thanks! I'm curious, is your skin oily again at all? I'm wondering if I'll need some kind of anti bacterial product if the oil returns.

My skin is now normal. :) I love it.

I took Accutane from August 2002 until February 2003. I have a skin care addiction so right now, I'm using Phisoderm 4-way cleanser and following that up with Kinerese. If I were to classify my skin now, I'd say it falls somewhere between normal and combo.
When I first stopped Accutane, I was dry and needed to moisturize after cleansing, by my first summer off of it, I needed a light moisturizer. Accutane continues to work for months after you stop taking it. It's been in the past 6 months that my eyelids are oily again - BUT not nearly as bad as it was.
Now, I get a light dusting of oil on my skin each day, but no where near as bad as it was pre-Accutane. Back then, I could wash my face and literally feel oil pumping from my pores in 10 minutes.
Accutane is best thing I could have done. My son's on it now. He's on month 3 and his skin looks SO much better. He's still breaking out a little, but that'll pass really soon.
