View Full Version : I Give Up!!! I'm Still The Same Weight (but Weigh A Bit More!)

I've been doing Taebo, workout on an elliptical machine and treadmill, and have been doing stomach exercises and I haven't seen any change and my weight has stayed the same. I've been flucuating between 140-144 pounds. Right now I weight 144 which is quite far from my goal of 125.

Now I'm gonna try what this one guy did to lose weight in 2 weeks. I posted this in another thread I started about yogurt. Here's the plan I'm going to take next week:

Special K for breakfast
Yogurt 3 times a day between breakfast and dinner
A big dinner: meat, veggies, fruit
1 hr after dinner jog/run on treadmill for 45 minutes (for approx. 4 miles)

Do you think this will work? :ohwell:

Hi Poobear

How is your water intake? Are you measuring as well as checking scales?

If you haven't been overeating, most probably are losing weight, but the scales might not have caught up yet.

I've always found that when my weight is being stubborn, if I have a really low calorie intake one day, then a very high one maybe the following day, by the end of the week, the weight shifts.

Good luck.

Your plan sounds fine btw.

This is why some people (me actually!) fail at dieting.

You've probably hit some sort of plateau, but don't worry. Keep with what you've been doing and you will overcome it and begin to lose weight again!

I feel you, Poohbear. I just spent two weeks on the South Beach diet and was shocked to see how little I lost. But then I decided that it was better than not losing anything. I think CharUK may be onto something with the water intake. I know I haven't been drinking enough and I read somewhere that it definitely helps with weightloss.

Whatever you do, don't give up!!

You say you weigh more but what about your inches? some people will begin to put on more weight before they lose it but they actually lose inches. This is b/c the fat is being converted into muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. So, a person that is a toned 130 pound person may weigh a size 8 and a non toned person may way a size 4 or 6. I think that you should check your measurements. Do your clothes feel any looser at all?

@CharUK ---> i've increased my water intake. I used to drink about 1000ml a day or less... now I try drink anywhere from 1500 - 2000ml a day.

@Chinagem ---> it seems like I've lost some inches around my mid-section but not in my thighs. And my clothes, especially my pants, feel looser. Maybe I've gained muscle from working out as well which could be why I'm not losing weight.

Have you tried the CLA mentioned in Vevster's thread and the recent thread? It's supposed to be totally safe and natural and something to make weight loss easier. Chromium too.

Chromium too.Naa, I don't want to take any extra pills than the ones I'm taking (I take Cod Liver Oil, Super B Complex, and a multi-vitamin). ;) Thanks anyway!

I don't think you're eating enough.

ditto. Your calorie intake is pretty low (going by what you posted). my body would go into starvation mode if that was all I ate. and then you exercise on top of that so your body burns at least 25% of the calories you ate that day. I think you should include a lunch with your meal.

Yeah, I wondered about that too. My sister works with this guy and I asked her and she said he would sometimes eat a salad for lunch.

So what do you guys think of the plan? This guy is white... do white people lose more weight quicker than blacks or something? Is that why he could eat less and still have the energy to lose all that weight in a short amount of time?

Great points!! However, FAT does NOT convert to Muscle, it is REPLACED by. This is a VERY common misconception! On the rest, I agree, you've problem lost some fat and because of the exercising, increased in muscle density which would account for the lack of weight loss/increase in poundage.

I know a lot of women are really concerned about what they weigh and I understand it but I don't agree too much. You may find that as you lose body fat and tone your muscles that at 125 lbs, you may be too small. The opposite may be true too. It's more a matter of who you feel in your clothes and look in the mirror.

The last thing you should do is give up, I agree with Ayeshia and Anky...maybe you're not taking in enough calories. It'll make the weight come off initially then your body will slam on the brakes and even hold on to more of what you DO eat cause it's trying to preserve itself.

At this point, if you're not seeing the results you want, don't give up but dig your heels in and restructure your plan. The exercise is a good thing, I would suggest modifying your diet (another problem w/weight loss can be a glandular issue). What works for some won't work for all. This person's diet works for him (or is it?). He's lost weight but has be also lost lean muscle tissue in the process?

Not all weight loss is good weight loss.

Oh My, I just looked the diet you posted...:nono: I'll PM you.

Oh and no, fat loss isn't racist! If anything I would say it's sexist! Most men I know lose weight a lot faster then women...

Seriously, it's a matter of diet, metabolism, stress, exercise, hormones, water retention and glandular issues (and more things I'm sure I missed).

I understand your confusion...been there, done that!

Thanks LaNecia for your response! I PMed you after I read your PM! Btw, the plan I posted isn't what I have been initially doing. I've been eating more than that, just eating like I normally do. That is just the plan this white guy did to lose weight and I was thinking about trying it. ;)
