Are there any women in the forum who suffers from Eczema? I currently have eczema. I am always looking for new lotions and soap. I am currently using Lubriderm and Vasoline mixed together for lotion. I use dove soap for my showering. I am interested in knowng what others use because my skin get use to this and it don't work anymore. I am also tired of using the greasy vasoline. I need a lotion that is going to moisturize my skin without assistance.

I suffer from Eczema too. I use Dove or Oil of Olay products. You might want to try the new lotion by Oil of Olay Quench. I haven't tried it, so I can't recommend it.
Sometimes when my Eczema has been really bad I take oatmeal bathes..

There was a previous thread about this topic..I bumped it up for you so you should see it...
HTH.

Have you been able to find Aveeno soap in the UK?

I use Dove Sensitive Skin Body Wash and either Eurecin cream or Aquaphor. I haven't had a break out in a couple years, just occasional blemishes on my leg during winter.

I have been using Gold Bond ultra healing for extremely dry skin on my son. It has worked wonders!!! Its about $8-9 a bottle. I'm not sure of the size, I think its a bout 12 ozs. But, its not greasy and it is even helping with bringing the pigment back to his skin.

I don't think I have, but then again, I've never been looking for it. I'll keep my eyes open and will buy you a bar if I come across one!

I'm also going to try and regularly take msm and my star flower capsules. The starflower capsules worked so well in the past! I could even see the moisture shining through my skin!!

My GP prescribed a cream called Dexeryl for me. I don't think the brand is available outside of France, but here are the active ingredients if you'd like to find something similar:

For 100 g of cream

glycerol 15 g
vaseline 8 g
liquid paraffin 2 g
It was very effective and my patches cleared up after just one application. Your results depend on how severe your condition is of course. I also take baths a few times a week with Epsom or marine salts added to the water.

I had a bad case of it last fall and in conjunction with that my allergies were really bad. I was a mess and couldn't breathe out of either nostril. My allergist said that excema and allergies go hand in hand. I am now on Immunotherapy and getting those shots every week for a while. It has cleared up my allergies as well as my excema. I also use the Elidel cream and a steroid cream when it was itching. It hasn't since the first week I started the treatment.

Vickie, your post reminded me to go back to the Allergist. I have SEVERE allergies. I got tested last year and found out I'm allergic to almost everything they tested me for. I also have exzema and dry eye. I got lazy and didn't go in for the shots. But I really should. Have they helped?

Hey there..I never come in this forum..but when I signed on..I saw it was about Eczema.. I didn't know I had it till like 2 years ago.. I started itching in one spot and it spread like crazy.. months later when I finally went to the dematologist..she prescribed..Protopic.. it's an ointment.. it helps ALOT.. she also told me to use the Kiss My Face Olive Oil bar.. that has helped wonders too!! For lotion I use the Fruit of the Earth Cocoa Butter.. it has Aloe and Vitamin E.. it is very moisturizing..

Eczema sucks..I had it ALL over before I finally went to the doctor.. I was itching like crazy..it turned from one little spot to something severe..I'll never do that again! I thought it would go away..I was trying everything.. it was horrible..

Anyway..HTH!! :)

Melodee, I would urge anyone that can do the shots to get them. It has been soooo worth it. I am originally from Chicago, but have lived here for 12 years and my allergies flared up a couple of years ago, but I hated going to the doctor and hated needles, but after having sinus problems, cold sores in my nose, excema and crazy itchy eyes, I broke down and went to see an allergist and had that scratch test. Like you, I was allergic to almost everything---from molds, to grasses, to dust, to even cats and dogs and I have two cats. After the first two shots, it made such a difference.

The good thing about the shots is that they are all natural serums which are the actual allergens themselves in low doses to build up your body's immunity---much like a vaccine. They ask you to sit in the office for about 20-30 minutes to make sure you don't have a serious reaction to them. The only side effect I have had is swelling and redness right after the shot---but I am far along in my therapy. It lessens though after a couple hours and doesn't react every time.

I can breathe and I'm not all itchy. You should try it! :poke:

Okay vickie, i will make an appointment. I had the "shot test done" where I was injected with about 90 possible allergens and I tested positive for about 75 of them. Why I haven't returned is beyond me.

I'm "officially" allergic to a bunch of stuff too and my allergist wants me to do the shots but I just don't wanna. Right now I keep things under control with Zyrtec - pretty much. My sister however is really suffering right now. No eczema, but her "hayfever" type of allergy is really kicking her behind. When they're bad her voice cuts out - she's hoarse like she has a bad cold. Its really odd.

To treat my eczema I have Protopic which has been pretty good. I also have Ultravate - a really really potent steroid ointment for bad flare ups. Its so strong I'm not supposed to use it for more than a few days at a time. But it works really well to calm the bad patches. I've had eczema my entire life and was one of those kids that was allergic to all of the good stuff - chocolate, citrus fruits, eggs.... it sucked!
