I desparately need your help. I am spending Christmas in New York with my family this year and I have no idea what to wear while Im there. I need everything!!! I currently live in in the south and it doesn't get too cold here. So, I need to know where I can purchase a good coat/jacket and maybe some winter boots. I want be warm, but still be sexy/cute at the same time...nothing that will make me look boxy or nondescript. So, let me have all of your suggestion. Thanks!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't live in NY but I am going up there next week (from DC) for Thanksgiving. I am going to pick up a few cute sweaters from Banana and Arden B, especially the off the shoulder ones. I am also taking plenty of boot cut jeans and kitten heels. For the days I will be in the city I am taking more comfortable shoes/boots. I also have a 3/4 coat I am taking in case it's a little chilly but my light, smaller jacket should do. I hope that helps until the NY crew comes online. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks Lorraine!! I was thinking along the same lines as you. I think that NY is having a mild winter, so I might be good. Still,I'd love to hear what the rest of the NY gang has to say. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

kitty, what kind of budget are you working with? I really like shopping in SOHO. You find a lot of cool shops and you won't see your clothes on every person you pass in the streets. I haven't been to SOHO for a while, so I don't what shops are there now, but there are always very cool boutiques to pop in to.
If you're not looking to spend a lot of money, Filene's basement on Broadway (I think the cross street is 86th) usually carries nice outer garments.

Webby, I am looking to spend between $300-500. I will definitely see what I can find in Soho while I am there /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I feel bad that I live in New York and the last coat I bought was online...a Kenneth Cole 3/4 wool pencil coat..and the last pair of boots were some leather Nine West last fall. There are so many places to go...if you ever get pressed to hit a spot...there's always Macy's with one stop shopping.
The weather is constantly changing...so far it's mild here...but it could be a blizzard by the time you get here...and if it's a blizzard...u won't be thinkin sexy chica...lol.

Your kenneth cole coat sounds too cute! I have been looking for a chocolate brown one just like that. And you are right about trying to be sexy in a blizzard...it ain't happening. LOL!!!

$300 to $500 is definitely enough to get down in SoHo. There are a TON of stores along Broadway. If you want shoes, go on West 8th. And since you're going to be in the city, you may as well go to Saks.

What about Woodbury Commons? My brother's barber was telling him about it and how they have all these nice designer outlets and such. We were thinking about going around Christmas time but from a females point of view, is it all that?

Woodbury Commons is okay. Actually it varies. You can go there one day and walk out with NOTHING or you can go the following week and walk out with tons of stuff.
Here is the link so you can see what type of stores they have. http://www.alpinemountain.com/job.html
It is alll outdoors so if you are going during christmas time BUNDLE up. It always seems to be freezing up there.

I like it ..I went there once and I had a great time shopped for hours, the arden b store had so many cute things for 10-20 bucks or less and they have lots of variety (I think), but I have heard its a luck thing.
