I don't mean the type of knock off where it is a fake LV logo. But I mean the style. I realized after the MB Tim was copied by so many people that many of the styles of shoes (purses and clothes too) are copies of what the big designers are doing. Yeah, I know, where have I been. I didn't use to pay attn to stuff like that. LOL
I would have bought the LV shoe knockoff in my avatar if I saw it at a store w/o realizing it was a copy of something else. Same with MB mary jane that aldo copied. With clothes I didn't realize Chanel came out with that boucle jacket this year, and now everyone has done it. I even saw a pair of AK pumps that were from MB. The style of the LV speedy, alma, and papillion have been copied by almost everyone.
I've even seen Steve Madden shoes copied at Target.
So what do you think, are these types of knockoffs the same? I don't think I'd buy one that was extremely obvious, like the MB tims. But the rest, I would. Especially since my funds are low and I'm not stepping anywhere near the top designers. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Examples, in case I didn't explain myself well enough. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'd wear a knock off of a designer shoe. Why not? If I like the shoe, it's because of the style and not necessarily because of the name attached to it.

Here are some good knock offs of the Manolo campari's. I hope this pic posting works [image]http://i20.ebayimg.com/02/i/02/ac/83/a1_1.JPG[image] If that doesn't work, here's the page they are on: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=63889&item=5338527 461&rd=1 at first when people were selling them, they were selling for a lot cheaper. I see the prices have gone up.

I don't mean knock offs and they carry the same name. I mean brands that copy the same style. Like aldo, nine west, Steve madden, bcbg girls, anne klein, Viga Spiga, Bandolino, and enzo making copies of styles originated by prada, marc jacobs, LV, Blahnik and etc...

Yeah, that's what I meant too, that I'd wear knock offs that were of the same style as the designer shoe. I'd wear them just b/c I like the style of the shoe and not necessarily the name behind them. My philosphy is if you can get the style for cheap, why pay more?

OH I gotcha...I thought you meant buying fake MB or LV's that are posing as the real thing.
I was also responding to Denali, but she deleted her post.

Yep, I've done it quite often, I just bought some shoes by the same designer, Michael, they look just as good as Minolo's(don't know how to spell his name)

I dont buy shoes very often cos my feet are 'special' most knock offs dont fit (I recently bought some cute pumps for 9 at a knock off store but I have to get rid of them cos I cant walk in them)--I just buy the good quality ones and look out for sales...my little sister has nice cute feet and she gets awesome shoes at very cheap prices.

I wear them quite often. I'm always on the hunt for a good knockoff... Manolos aren't any more comfortable than the knockoff - lets face it - they ALL hurt!

Half the time I dont even know they are a knock off so yeah, I buy them. I mean I dont study LV or Blahnik shoes to know what they are doing. I buy what I like and that usually means good quality shoes in my price range.
If I find out later on that they are someone's knock offs then OH Well!!!

I think it depends on how much of a knock-off it is. Chanel has always been the primary designer of boucle jackets in the style that is so popular this year; however, there are plenty of boucle jackets in stores this year that do not resemble the look Chanel has made famous. I would not be opposed to buying one of those. Also, sometimes, something may come out on the runway and you see it in the stores by a lesser known designer and just buy it because you like it. I just would not buy anything that was a clear nearly exact replica of a distinctive designer piece, if that all makes sense.

[/ QUOTE ]It does. My example of this are the MB tims. So I gotcha. But I'm like the other poster, I buy what I like and then I see it was a copy of something.

If I did I don't think I would know it. I have designer favorites but they don't go over $200 a pair so more than likely my Via Spiga 's or Steve Madden's are knock offs. The way fashion trends sweep through every season it's hard to tell who was the originator.
