my skin is a CHITTY MESS. Large pores black heads white heads red heads brown heads dark spots pits itchy flaky painful in spots I dont know what to do. A few years ago my skin had a zit or two but now it is worse than in my worst teenage days. I have female probs and i am on meds that have acne as a side effect. I dont know what to do Proactive did nothing. Black opal did nothing, neutragena nothing. I really want microdermabrasion/chemical peel but it is pricey and I cant do it right now. I am back to using regular soap it gives better results than anything so far. I am on my last shot right now hopefully my zitz/acne will clear on its own but what about the potholes in my face.

How about the Himani Gold? Did you try that? There really isn't much you can do about the large pores though but it might work on the other stuff.

ETA: I know how you feel, I wish I had start taken better care of my skin in my earlier years. They say most of the damage is done by the age of 18. That's why I'm going make my kids start wearing sunscreen at the age of 6. /forums/images/graemlins/rofl.gif

What kind of skin type do you have?

Oh and I do know one thing that messed my skin up so bad!!!!! And that was hair products!!!!! Now that I'm back just Kemi Oyl and nothing more, my skin has cleared up considerably.

And yes! Drink that water girl!!!!!

Awww...don't worry Ms. Portugal...your skin will be fine. Take it from someone who's been dealing with acne since the age of 10 (I'm 24 now and still fighting it). I've gotten to the point that I think it's really just finding the right combination for your skin. After all the prescription stuff and OTC remedies, I'm just now finding out that my skin likes black soap and glycolic acid. Go figure! The clearing up is a slow process, but it'll be worth it to keep at it. And you're right...sometimes less is definitely more! Take care

Hugs,
Crys

Don't cry! Is your doctor willing to prescribe something for your skin? Maybe the medications can cooperate. How do other people taking the medication compensate? Will you be off the meds soon? That'd fix it.

Yes, hair products will do that to you. On one side of my face there are just red/pink spots that won't go away. I hate it. I've been using Klear Action which is the /forums/images/graemlins/censored.gif for my skin but I ran out too quickly and had to wait until more was shipped out...needless to say the red marks in the same spot showed back up again. They are just leftover marks from the breakouts I had from using this hair oil...so now whenever I don't want them show I have to use foundation to cover them up and I hate foundation /forums/images/graemlins/angry2.gif! I would suggest Klear Action to you but actually it's the alternative to Pro-Activ and you already said it doesn't work for you. This stuff is much stronger than the Phisoderm I was using before [Phisoderm worked for me in the past but once I had major breakouts from hair products it completely stopped /forums/images/graemlins/angry2.gif].

Try one of the Queen Helene masques, especially the Mint Julep masque, it says its good for closing up large pores...i don't have large pores but its helped eliminate my blemishes and small pimples here and there on my face! /forums/images/graemlins/clap.gif

Ms. P,

This happened to me about this time last year. I'd never seen my skin in such condition. I splurged and headed straight to an esthetician and got a facial. That one appointment really helped. My real problem was stress. If you're stressing at all, get on some B-Complex to keep your skin and hair in tact through it all...

ITA with supergirl. Large pores will are more noticiable where the skin is oily. To help with the large pores I use the neutrogena pore refining toner and dove pink soap. To get rid of the dark spots on my face ( because I had so many pimples I could connect the dots) I use the Black & White cream that was introduced to me by kitchentican ( SHOUT OUT) contains 2% hydroquinone which is recommended for a good fade cream. In addition, trying drinking at least 8 glass of water a day and carrot juice, especially the carrot juice ( trust me;))

Retin A is your best friend, it will break you out at first but you have to use it for like 3 months before you stop breaking out. you must continue to use it everyday for the rest of you life though.. you have to go to a derm to get it..

Msportugal, I highly recommend Milk of Magnesia in addition to Himani. My skin has never behaved so well. Try to find Allandra's thread on it. It has some great info.
