I'm so excited....this is my first post on the fashion forum! Let me stop being silly....

Can you help me? I have a lot of turtlenecks and sweaters. Most of my clothes are extreme...like summer or winter...not many spring/fall clothes.

How do I know when its safe to break out the turtlenecks....does it go by the temperature? What is the point of watching the weatherman if I don't know what to wear.

Is there a certain temperature that dictates when I can wear my turtlenecks or sweaters? 65? 52?

I hope this isn't a silly question but I once heard a lady on the radio make a comment on the radio about someone she had seen wearing a turtleneck but it wasn't turtleneck season...when is turtleneck season? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I stopped worrying about what others think a long long time ago.

To me, turtleneck weather is weather when your body, not anybody else's feels the need for the extra warmth all day long.

That makes sense BUT one day I put on a turtleneck and by the time the afternoon rolled around...I was burning up and looking foolish too! In hindsight, it probably would have helped if I had noted the temperature.

I have heavy sweaters and light sweaters (I include turtlenecks in this category.) Every year when I pack up my winter things, I always leave out a few light sweaters and turtlenecks to wear if the temperature drops in the middle of summer (which happens frequently in Minnesota). So, you could say that technically, I wear sweaters year round, but the weight of the fabric varies. Typically if the temperature will be below 60, I'll pull out one of these light sweaters. And, if it's warmer, but I'm going to a cool place, I may also wear one or wear layers.

I'm already wearing my lightweight turtlenecks on cooler days. One good thing to do is if you are unsure about the weather, dress in three parts, put a short sleeved or sleeveless top under a turtleneck or other type of light sweater. Then have a jacket to go over it. That way, in the fall where the weather can easily go from one extreme to the other you will be prepaperd for warm, cool and cooler.
