I hope (and I know) you guys can help me. My skin (mainly face area) is discolored. Some areas, ( nose, cheeks) are much lighter than other areas( mouth, under eyes, areas on forehead)It looks horrible!! Then to add to it, sometimes my skin gets really oily. Also, due to being under a lot of stress this summer I broke out. On one side of my face, you can connect the dots. I don't really break out often, but when I do I get black marks that can last up to 3 months!! I still have marks on my face from summer pimples. I got a picture of myself from my friend today. If you look at my arms, neck and chest area my skin is beautiful, but once you get to my face, it's like-- WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED. A different head on a different body? Or did someone used 5 different shades of makeup on my face? It is totally different. Oh gosh please, please help.

Have you taken any prescriptions that could have caused your face to be discolored?
My face is also oily and when I was taking Accutane for acne a year ago, my face became discolored. My forehead and the area around my mouth was darker than the rest of my face. My dermatologist prescribed me Glyquin 4% which bleached those areas and old acne dark spots giving me an even skin tone. /forums/images/graemlins/king.gif
Right now, I have been dealing with these stupid blemishes. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Some of the bigger bumps of the blemishes can leave a small dark spot on my face which is really annoying. I have been thinking about trying Nadinola Extra Strength Fade Cream or Black Opal Essential Fade Cream which I saw that some ladies use on this forum for dark spots on their face.
Recently, I tried a mud masque that was expired which messed up my face and caused brown blotches all over my cheeks. A stupid mistake. So it made my face back to being discolored along with being rough and just horrible looking. /forums/images/graemlins/perplexed.gif Well, I found a solution...
I have been putting Extra Virgin Olive Oil on my face for about 10-15 minutes in the morning and at night. I then wash my face with Noxzema Exfoliating Cleanser while the oil is still on my face. I rinse with water and wipe my face with a towel. When I look at the towel, there's a lot of dead skin on there! When I look at my face, it looks so much better! The blotches and rough skin disappeared immediately leaving a more even skin tone and even the blemishes are dying down...and I've only been doing this for 2 DAYS! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I'm going to keep doing this until my face looks better! I bet you're thinking "oil on an oily face? I dont think so." Well I did along with some other ladies on here and it worked! So I would suggest getting some oil and an exfoliator to cleanse your face. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
After doing this method for a while, I am going to try Burt's Bees facial care products which are natural products. CLICK HERE! (http://www1.burtsbees.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&cate goryId=10015&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10001)

funny i was about to post this as a new thread. My face is 2 or 3 shades darker than my body. I am thinking about doing chemical peels to lighten it up. Does anyone have any suggestions on other things i can do?

My face is darker than my body as well. I think this is common in black women, but uneven skintone and discoloration is a pain. I know for me hydroquinone (sp) has never worked, plus I heard that it causes it's own set of problems.
What I have found that works really well at brightening and helping to even out skintone is vitamin C based products and lactic acid. I use Philosophy skincare faithfully and the hope in a jar face cream has lactic acid which smooths and evens the skin. I also use their vitamin C powder every morning - I mix it in with the hope in a jar. This product works very well for me. And then I use their microdelivery peel wich is also vitamin c and lactic acid based.
I would also suggest if you are sensitive trying a natural goat milk soap. Lactic acid is found naturally in milk and goat milk soap does wonders. And it is gentle.
Country Herbals makes an excellent goat milk soap. You can find the brand in some Whole Foods stores:
