Ok so now that im getting this hair care regimen down pack i need to focus on my skin!! A few days ago i posted a thread because a had a massive breakout on my forehead http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=404188&highlight=.... i picked up cetaphil cleanser because of the massive reviews and the replies i received but it dries my face out!!! Does that mean my skin is dry? Is there another cleanser out there that will help??

Im trying to get rid of these dark spots and breakouts and i saw a few articles about cleansing and changing my eating habits (which is off balanced and horrible) so im starting on the inside so now i need to get the right products and outside right!!!

Whether is natural remedies or over the counter products i need help and suggestions!!!! TIA

You need a nice mask

Many people rave about asprin masks (crush a couple ofaspitrins, add water and leave for like 5-10 mins)

Never done it myself but it's raved about, personally i either use Lush's Mask of Magnity or Orgin's Active Charcoal

For the spots, I suggest neutrogena blemish control cream with salicylic acid.

This is the question I was going to ask. There is also a cleanser for sensitive skin which helped me immensely.

I realized during this skin care journey of mine that less is definitely more. I tried masks, cleansers, moisturizers, scrubs and they all made it worse. Now I cleanse with Cetaphil, moisturize with CVS brand moisturizer, apply my topical only when needed and do a mask once a week and thats it. I havent had a breakout in almost 2 months and its that time of the month.

Doing the diet is key but outside you want to keep it simple.

Day
Cleanse with acne cleanser
Acne medication for active bumps
Vitamin C (helps dark spots)
Sunscreen

Night
Cleanser with acne cleanser
Acne medication
Vitamin A (dark spots) you can also buy a fade cream I like Obaji

I also agree a good mask and buff puff to exfloiate skin at least 3 times a week should work.

Neutrogena makes excellent acne products and mask but you still need a Vitamin C and Vitamin A. I use Serious Skin Care C and A on HSN.COM

I'm assuming you're in your 20s:

November 2009's Glamour Magazine has a skin care feature by age group.

Biggest skin agers to avoid: The sun, smoking and boozing.

Proven ways to look even better:

*Ditch the zits. Use a cleanser with 2% glycolic or salicylic acid. If your skin's very oily, reach for one with benzoyl peroxide. Just don't go overboard. "A lot of young women think that if a little benzoyl peroxide is good, more is even better," says Dr. Fusco. "But applying a cleanser and a spot treatment that have it can dry out and sensitize your skin." One new option Dr. Marmur is loving is Epiduo, a prescription gel that attacks the causes of acne--skin inflammation and clogged pores. "It works in a way that's safe even for sensitive skin," she says.

*Combat puffiness. Back away from processed foods, which tend to be loaded with sodium, and the salt shaker. When you need emergency morning help, try and under-eye treatment with caffeine; tap for a minute or two to increase circulation.

*Start anti-aging now! No need to go nuts; just apply a daily moisturizer with glycolic acid--it's light but helps smooth any little lines. And do a weekly scrub: skin cells refresh themselves fast now, but this speeds up the process and the glow. (Optional: eye cream.) "In your twenties, you have this mentality that skin will take care of itself," says Jillian Wright, owner of NYC's Jillian Wright Clinical Skin Spa. "But you will avoid a ton of problems down the line if you start treating skin with the same care you do your body."

What YOU Should Be Using on Your Face

An Oil-Free Cleanser: try Clearasil StayClear Skin Perfecting Wash ($5, at drugstores)
An Anti-Aging Moisturizer: try Clinique Youth Surge SPF 15-Combination Oily to Oily ($49, clinique.com)
A Glow-Ifying Exfoliator: try Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Scrub ($6.50, at drugstores)

HTH!

Two products that really helped for me was proactive and nassab black soap and shea butter. I use to get those bumps that would be under the skin and leave huge dark marks. I noticed with the proactive it cleared it up leaving me with a clear face. Now that my acne has cleared up I was thinking about using the proactive again because I liked how it cleared all the dark marks off of my face.
