Any thoughts or experience in using either as a natural sweetener? Im pretty shy when it comes to sugar these days, but I would like to have a little splash of sweetener in my yogurt or oatmeal in the mornings. Right now Im having greek yogurt that comes pre-sweetened with raw cane sugar. I sweeten my oatmeal with a tblspoon of protein powder but I believe my protein powder has Sucralose.
Thanks!!!!

Hey girl check out http://www.globalsweet.com. It's my new favorite site lol. You can use Xylitol or Erythritol (I use this one). Zero calories, natural and tastes like sugar:yep:

I think it depends on what you're using it for. Honey has a particular taste that tastes all right in tea, but not as much (to me) in coffee. Agave nectar is pretty nice tasting, but also has it's own distinct taste and I find that it works better in smoothies. I'd tend to use it in other foods like oatmeal or yogurt. The raw cane sugar works best (again, to me) in the hot drinks like coffee and tea.
Agave nectar has a low glycemic index, which is nice.

^^^Right I like that about the low glycemic index! Right now I dont use any sweeteners but like I said its already in the product:ohwell:
I bought vanilla greek yogurt assuming that there was only vanilla in it. My dumb self, ofcourse there was just the same amount of sugar in that one as it was in the Strawberry flavored one!
So Im going to get the fat free plain and use the agave. The only thing is that using my protein powder to sweeten my oatmeal is only like 1g or less of carb whereas the agave has like 18g! Thats a big difference:blush:

I'd stay away from agave. It's highly processed and isn't as "healthy" as manufacturers would like you to believe. You may as well consume with HFCS for all the "benefits" agave has. If you do go with sugar, unrefined dark brown sugar is a good option. The grains aren't as big as typical granulated sugar.
Honey is tasty in Greek yoghurt and it has great medicinal properties. Organic honey is the best. If you can, it's probably best to find Greek yoghurt that isn't pre-sweetened and then mix it with yoghurt. Not much is needed, imo.
Ultimately, I'd go with Kbragg's suggestion if you want a sweetener you can use more freely.

^^^thanks for the info. Ive been doing some research on it the last few days on how the processing of agave takes away all the benefits!
I swear everything is overly processed :(
Im thinking that I will probably be eliminating sugar in the next week so I will just finish off the rest of my pre-sweetened yogurt and then just purchase plain.
I feel ok now knowing that it has pure cane sugar as opposed to that corn syrup or aspartame!

Have you tried stevia? It's pretty good if you get a good tasting brand (I use Nunaturals). I initially used Agave + stevia mixed, and hardly ever need to use agave.

As far as Agave goes you can also get RAW Agave Nectar which still has all the nutrients (I bought mine on vitacost)

It's VERY good to me:yep: I just check vitacost and the only have the raw organic blue agave nectar. I'm not sure how different the blue agave is from the other kind. Ok Madhava seems to be out of stock of the Raw Organic Agave Nectar, butI'm sure there are other brands or it may be available in stores.

I usually order from vitacost because of the prices...I try to order once it is back in stock.
The prices in the store is entirely too much..If i ofrder from vitacost and order a couple of other things the shipping is cheap.
