Great advice from Truequeen on Manicures
How I do my full manicure (I do this once a week):
1. Remove all polish.
2. Shape nails if necessary.
3. Use a cuticle remover (I prefer Sally Hansen's Cuticle Remover in the blue bottle). Let it sit for a minute or two and then use a orange stick to push back cuticles. Then kind of scrape of the gel. Wash hands.
4. Soak nails in Olive Oil for about 5 minutes.
5. Use a salt scrub or sugar scrub on hands to get rid of dead skin and rinse.
6. When ready to paint nails, get a cotton ball with some alcohol and swipe nails with it.
7. Use a nice base coat (to help polish stay longer use a rubberized base coat like Orly Bonder or CND Stickey). Let dry completely.
8. Apply color of choice, making sure it dries between coats.
9. Apply a nice top coat. (Seche Vite, Poshe, and Nubar Diamont are great fast drying topcoats. Sally Hansen has one too.).
10. After everything is completely dry, use a nice hand cream and before going to bed oil your cuticles with olive oil or your oil of choice.
A few tips on making you manicure last:
1. Wear gloves when washing dishes and doing chores.
2. Wrap your tips. What does this mean? When painting your nails swipe your free edge with both color polish and top coat.
3. When ever you get a chip, use a nail file and file over the chipped section to make a flat even surface. Re apply a coat of color and your top coat of choice for a quick fix.
