Great advice from Truequeen on Manicures

How I do my full manicure (I do this once a week):

1. Remove all polish.

2. Shape nails if necessary.

3. Use a cuticle remover (I prefer Sally Hansen's Cuticle Remover in the blue bottle). Let it sit for a minute or two and then use a orange stick to push back cuticles. Then kind of scrape of the gel. Wash hands.

4. Soak nails in Olive Oil for about 5 minutes.

5. Use a salt scrub or sugar scrub on hands to get rid of dead skin and rinse.

6. When ready to paint nails, get a cotton ball with some alcohol and swipe nails with it.

7. Use a nice base coat (to help polish stay longer use a rubberized base coat like Orly Bonder or CND Stickey). Let dry completely.

8. Apply color of choice, making sure it dries between coats.

9. Apply a nice top coat. (Seche Vite, Poshe, and Nubar Diamont are great fast drying topcoats. Sally Hansen has one too.).

10. After everything is completely dry, use a nice hand cream and before going to bed oil your cuticles with olive oil or your oil of choice.

A few tips on making you manicure last:

1. Wear gloves when washing dishes and doing chores.

2. Wrap your tips. What does this mean? When painting your nails swipe your free edge with both color polish and top coat.

3. When ever you get a chip, use a nail file and file over the chipped section to make a flat even surface. Re apply a coat of color and your top coat of choice for a quick fix.

The Lurkers can't necessarily join in...remember this section can be seen by visitors. So that adds to the number of views but doesn't mean it can necessarily translate to post.

However I suspect there are a number of Lurkers who haven't come to terms wth their addiction and are full fledge members.

Hey ladies!

I don't usually participate in these threads but I do occasionally peak in and I do love polish! I'm looking for mattes...I know you guys know where to find them. I'd like to avoid ordering online if possible...anyone know where I can find them locally? (And by local, I mean almost anywhere as I'm on the road all month :))

I was sitting in this Ethics Breakfast that my university hosted this morning and was so bored out of my mind I started picking at my nails. Before I realized it I peeled all the polish of my middle finger on my right hand :(

And it's a particularly ugly nail too because I must have bumped it or something so it has these little red and black lines that are growing out, it looks like dirt but it's really blood under the nail :nono: So now people are going to be thinking I have dirty nails, I just want to go home now

I'm a lurker who thanks to all of your every time I walk into Sally's or a BSS I can't help to look and maybe buy a polish. I have some pictures but I'm horrible at posting. Once I down load them I will post them. I will say that I am the talk of my job with a different color each week. My nails are still short but for the first time ever I am wearing my own nails without tips or wrap and they for the most part are not breaking.

Welcome to the thread DI. Can't wait to see your pics.

Well I am back to posting in the morning again. The job did not pan out. The comutte was too far. I would have to leave out 2 hours early to make it to work on time. I would get home an 1 1/2 in the evenings. I didn't want it to mess with my unemployment.

However I suspect there are a number of Lurkers who haven't come to terms wth their addiction and are full fledge members.Ooooh--THAT'S why the views went up sky high so fast! I forgot that nonmembers can see this forum. You so smart!

@ the bold: I think I feel a little guilty now for pressuring people to join in. So if you are out there and visit this thread regularly and also have more than 20 polishes, embrace denial. You're not addicted. No, no.:nono: There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with your "little hobby." Don't post pics if you don't want to--because YOU are not the addict--we are.:spinning: I just don't want people feeling bad about something that feels SO GOOD.:look:

Slipping in my work week color:

OPI Skinny Dip'n In Lake Michigan--got my hands on this because of crlsweetie and it is in my top two nudes with Tickle My Francey. This one is a warmer nude--almost peachy.

Once I polished I saw that my left hand nails are too long and I think I like the length of the right hand better--with the exception of that rogue, AWOL middle fingernail.:wallbash:
