When is too much too much? Buying hair products? I feel so guilty and miserable. I've bought yet another product simply because somebody else tried it with great results. Sigh...scriptures...help me put this into perspective. Is this a form of coveting? Trying to have everything???

I confess...I buy too much product!!! OY

I don't have any scriptural references, but I do know at the height of my PJism, I was spending more money on conditioner and products than I was on anything else...(if I can be real, more than I was giving at church truthfully). And thinking about my hair entirely too much. Thank God that that period is over!

I have an uncle who is very hard off and once my mother asked me to give him 20$. When I realized that I had spent all of my extra money at the BSS on who knows what, and didn't have any to give him who seriously needed money..I knew that this was an issue!

I do think it is a form of coveting, or greed, always searching for something new, the creamiest, most slippiest, best smellingest, the list goes on. I know I have issues with vanity and that is another issue that this haircare thing brings..at least with me.

I will ditto your OY! what to do what to do?

I think there is a difference when buying hair products to see what works for your hair and just buying products just to buy them. I have a closet full of wigs, products, etc. I'm trying or was trying to find things that works for me (and I like to stock up).

I don't consider myself a PJ; I'm just trying to find the best product for my money.

But in your case GV...SHAME ON YOU!!! Just kidding! :)

I think simplicity is best.

Great topic! You're right-we need to be temperate in all things, good stewards and not covetous. Even for hair products- I do feel guilty when I get stuff I really don't need- sometimes it's wasteful. It's hard b/c we all are trying to find the right products & regis but I need to remember this.

Thanks! :)

I know...simplicity and doing a regimen that works. I bought that stuff just cuz. And when I shop, thinking that I've found the panacea, I'll buy in bulk. A month later, when it's not so great...there they are, all setting on the closet(s) shelves. I need to go to UPS and get some flatrate boxes and see what'll fit for product-exchange forum. I truly felt badly last night and asked G-d to forgive me.

Okay, after thinking about it, I've decided to pray over it, consolidate tonight...on a major religious holiday...hmmm...and get my life and cabinet space back. I'm looking through most of everything tonight and will not throw them out, I will either sell items or mix them together like my liquid oils.

I may not have all the answers, particularly religiously as I truly miss synagogue with all my heart and I know Gd requires of me ...but I made choice and am trusting Him to work it out...but this is something I can and must have control of. So, for this catholic's Rosh HaShanah, I am consolidating the crap out of my life...may it be a sweet year indeed! And may my hair be waistlength by this time next year, Gd willing.

I was thinking about this earlier this week, after I went on a mini hair-spree. Just a mini one, though. :look: On one hand, it feels "necessary" to treat my hair the best in order to grow it out--especially since finding LHCF was an answer to prayer in the first place. But at the same time, money is a valuable resource, and I can't justify putting so much of it into my hair, which is surely passing away with the rest of this world.

I think the Lord knew my dilemma, though, since soon after thinking and praying about it, I discovered the cheapo generic high-end brands at Sally's. Compromise!
