My friend and I are both corporate america types; until recently we were both unemployed (she has a job). So she asked me did I ever "dress up" for work. I told her yes, because I like to look good when I step out of the door; regardless of where I am going. Her comments were that she NOW thinks that its a waste of money to invest in "dressing up for work".

I'm floored that she thinks this way, because she was a DIVA.

My question to you ladies is do you "dress up for work" and why?

I don't go all out but I do look nice. I see nothing wrong with a person wanting to dress up for work, it's uplifting and professional.

I definitely dress up for work when I don't have to. And folks notice, because they always ask me, "Do you have a meeting today?" I think it's worth it and it helps me to enjoy being here on days when I....don't.

No.

I'm not invested enough in my job to waste looking my best on these people. I save my dressing up for MY time.

Sure don't. A couple of years ago they incorporated a 'Dress Casual' code, which allows for jeans with nice tops and even capris in the summer. When I am not at a client's site I do not dress up for work.

Matter of fact, I miss the days of wearing scrubs. The only thing I HAD to do was my hair and make-up :yep:

No.

I'm not invested enough in my job to waste looking my best on these people.

Sad to say, but that is my thought exactly. This job where I'm at is transient, and I am just literally just passing through. I'm not wasting my time dressing up. As long as I'm clean and matching, it's all good.

I dress up each and everyday for work. Love wearing my skirts and high heels. Feel extra sexy each and everyday. I enjoy it.

I usually dress business casual, pants and blouses. But as of next week I will be going to a lot networking events so I will be looking tight. I can here them now stopping at my desk trying to whisper. "Do you have an interview today?"

Yep, I dress up everyday with accessories, heels, nice outfit, make-up, etc. I enjoy looking like a professional. Other people notice and wonder why go through the extra effort, but my mother always said, "Dress for the job you want, not the one you have". Besides, you never know who is looking. You may get that big promotion because you are setting the professional tone for the work environment. My aunt was given a pay raise and a management position, because the boss always noticed how she carried herself. The other women she worked with always looked busted or like they just rolled out of bed.
