I use NARS blush/bronzer, Bobbi Brown concealer, clinque powder and any drugstore liners and mascaras, but now I'm looking to improve my eyeshadow collection...
MAC breaks me out bad, so I try to avoid their face stuff like powder and etc...any recommedations, high end or drugstore?

I'm not sure about the breakout factor, but some of my non MAC favorites are NYX (can be found at Ulta, Asian BSS, and Fragrance Outlets), Milani (you may still find singles at Walgreens-I just saw a bunch there today-or at some BSS), L'Oreal HIP (great to buy BOGO), Urban Decay (Sephora and Ulta), and Makeup Forever (Sephora).
ETA: I just saw you're in Japan--of course I don't know where these can be found there.:spinning:

I like HIP duos. The color is really pigmented. I have several. I also like the 120 palette. You can it from Ebay or Costal Scents. Ebay is much cheaper. Since most of the palettes are located in Hong Kong, you should check locally. At least if you do order from an Ebay seller, you should get it FAST! Just remember to use a good primer for the eye, so that you get long wear. HTH :yep:

LOVE Ulta single shadows.. my favorite one is named Copper Bronze I think... its my number 1 highlight.... LOVE L'Oreal.... Urban Decay Palettes are to die for! Get the deluxe big one with mesh and purple
Costal scents palettes are good, but chalky with tons of fall out so have a sticky base like a cream shadow. http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm
they have shadow colors comparable to MAC idk if they will break u out tho. But since ur in Japan use an Ebay seller based out of Hong Kong..... I've heard of pl geting great deals off Ebay for the same costal scents.... do a thread search for sellers

I like Urban Decay, Two Faced, NYX Shadow pencils and the 120 Palette. The palette is a great value and there are so many interesting looks you can create. I also have the neutral palette - fewer shades but better IMO for a professional, office look.
Also be sure to start with a really good primer. That is a must to get the most out of your shadow.
Both Urban Decay and Two Faced make great primers.
I personally like the Two Faced primer better because it is much easier to get out of the tube.

I need to step my eyeshadow game up. I like Hip Duos--they are simple and easy to use, put one color on the lid, the other in the crease and blend...even I can't mess it up too much, lol. I like NYX shadows as well.
I love Smashbox and Bobbi Brown shadows because I can use them without a primer and they will last all day. (I have super oily lids!) So when I am running late, I reach for these two brands!
I love MAC for the wide range of colors.
Drugstore brands: I love Maybelline and H.I.P. duos.

Thanks ladies! All the brands mentioned here can be found in Japan, except for Urban Decay and Two Faced. I'm going to pick up some Bobbi Brown and Nars maybe next time I go to the mall, but they are sooo expensive. Maybe I should start with NYX? There's a huge new NYX display at my fav store....

I can get NYX to stay on with a primer.

I think Dior and Urban Decay make the best eye shadows. Dior colors are rich and creamy, and they last forever!
NARS and Stila are also very good.

NYX shadows are my favorite d/s brand of shadows. HiP is alright too but a lot of NYX shadows are comparable to MAC. I am not of fan of the texture of HIP shadows. The ones I own are not very smooth and I have a few duos that lack pigmentation and are difficult to work with. NYX shadows can be shimmery though. Not discoball shimmery or overtly noticable but I can't say I recall seeing a matte NYX shadow.

I agree with NYX and HiP. I have heard mostly good things about the coastal scents palettes, but haven't bought one as yet.

I have urban decay, too faced they are mostly shimmery shadow types. I am still looking for a good matte eyeshadow brand to try but so far my 120 color palette is filling the void, with a good primer, it works well!
