i bought a denim jacket from there, it was cheaper than other stores but not that cheap. I found that in a New York H&M.

since then i havent really seen anything I like, everything just looks too cheap

There a few stores here, but mostly I go there just to get acessories. I question the quality of clothes there.

I just can't get with a lot of thier clothes. A lot of material from there looks kinda cheap. I guess you just have to be careful of what you buy. A friend of mine has several H&M jeans with some really nice expensive looking fades to it. I've also seen several jackets on people from there that look like good quality. However, when I go in the store I can't say I really like the quality of 60% of the clothes. The accessories are really nice though.

The stuff is kinda cheap price-wise so you really do get what you pay for. I've been able to get away with some of their slacks and their button up shirts. Their sizes are inconsistent too.

For the fashionistas:

Karl Lagerfeld and H&M have the pleasure of announcing their collaboration for the autumn 2004 season. Karl Lagerfeld will design a collection of around 30 pieces to be produced and distributed by H&M under the label "Karl Lagerfeld for H&M".

"We both had the same idea independently. I've been fascinated by what they do for a long time, and they were apparently interested in what I represent", explained Karl Lagerfeld.

The "Karl Lagerfeld for H&M" line is a one-time collection that will be available this year, from mid-November. The collection will be sold in most stores on H&M's 19 markets in Europe and North America.

"It's both fascinating and motivating to work with Karl Lagerfeld and above all to have the possibility to offer our customers this completely unique collection", explained Margareta van den Bosch, head of design at H&M.

Further information will be available at the beginning of this autumn.
http://www.hm.com/de/hm/press/fashion.jsp?prid=512

The October Elle magazine said that the pieces would be offerd for 1 week in November. I have not seen the collection yet but even if I don't like any I will be sure to pick up a few items. The EBAY potential is going to be amazing.

Yes,
They do have the cutest assecories http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The only thing I don't like about H&M is that everybody and there momma also likes it http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Here you can't to the club with a H&M outfit on expecting not to see at least 2 other people with the same exact outfit on...

You get stylish clothes but some of them look cheap, but you pay for what you get. I like their stuff.

I also like Zara better than H&M. But we only have one Zara shop in this town and about a hundred H&M shops.
I find Zara's sizes a little bit smaller and better suited for women like me with slim waists.

Zara isn't too bad--most nice trousers are $45--compared to Express (I hate that place) that's not bad--but compared to H&M, WetSeal, and Forever21...I guess they'd be considered expensive... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

$45 is not bad at all. For some reason i was under the impression that their clothes were more expensive than that. I'm fussy about the quality of clothes which is why I don't really buy anything from H/m and Wet Seal. Maybe I should check them out /forums/images/graemlins/scratchchin.gif

Like Denali said--I wouldn't consider Zara expensive--but they DO have some expensive items and also they have AWESOME shoes which are expensive. They are definitely a higher quality then WetSeal and H&M...

forever 21 is below h&m to me. their stuff is just way way way cheap and it looks it. thats more of a party store to me. if im going out and i need a cute shirt, then id go to forever 21, but id never go there to buy something to wear to work. after 1 wash, the threads start coming out....its a one and done type of place to me.

45 dollars isnt bad for pants. express is 58-78, so thats not that bad.

I agree--Forever 21 is lower than H&M. I love the store, I buy tons of stuff from there mostly trendy stuff that I won't be wearing in the next year or so, plus it probably won't last that long! haha

Yeah, Zara pants are a tad cheaper than Express--but better fit and little more young-hip-professional as opposed to just professional.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Honeyhips,

Chicago now has two H&M stores. One on State and the other on Michigan Avenue across from the Water Tower. I've only been in once, it's always so DAMN CROWDED! I hoping now that the kids are back in school I may get a chance to really check it out.

yeah, thats what Express wanted to do. I work there part time on weekends (so if you want a discount, get at me /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif). they wanted to get rid of their old reputation of being a casual/teeniebopper/someplace where you can get a party shirt and a work outfit. they now want to rival benneton and banana republic. which is funny because express has been express for so long that if ppl want a 300 dollar suit, theyll just go to banana or benneton. theyre not even doing a big sale anymore, just promotions. stupid isnt it?

Please beware when buying shoes from Zara, especially heels. My friends bought a pair of stilettos to go to an interview, the heel broke just as she arrived, needless to say, she was pissed! I've got 2 pairs from there. The mules are fine, but I got a pair of ankle boots and within 1 month, the heel was wobbly.

NY Ladies can you tell me where the H&M stores are located I will be visiting soon.

Dare~to~Dream

I went to their websites and though I didn't see much...their clothes don't necessarily look "cheap"...I guess it's different than actually seeing them in person...I have shopped at Dillard's in the past and believe me when I say some of their clothes aren't of good quality...since I live in an area where there aren't many high-end fashion stores...and since I don't have the money for "designer couture" more than likely I will have to shop at Dillard's again.

@@@LABETT, the one I went to is in downtown Manhattan on W. 34th street between 7&8 avenue. I believe. I'm sure there are others in NY. The website may have a store locator.

I love H&M but the closest one to where I live is in Tyson's Corner, Va. I go to NY every year so I will always go then. You have to be selective about what you pick out, because some of it will look cheap, but the store in Potomac Mills is really good. I went there about 2 months ago and racked up!
