I think that everyone with acne has considered going on Accutane despite it being one of the worst drugs on the market. I can't imagine that Inflammatory bowel disease would be worth it. And, I am praying for everyone who takes it because it hasn't be used long enough to show the long-term side effects.

But, you'll have beautiful skin, no doubt about that.

Me neither.

Lemmie tell you.

If you go back and read threads I made from late last year to try and cure me of the acne that I had you will see that it was no joke. I woke up with 3 -5 new ones and I could not stop them. I didnt take any pictures or go anywhere because I didnt want ppl to see me.
When my 6 year old cousin asked me " Encore why is your face like that" I was DONE. made the Derm appt. the same day.

I had retin a and benzaclin and they just burned the mess outta my face but it helped a bit....my face was still bad. I was going to go the accutane route but the SE turned me off...after I found out it was because of my washcloth ( it had dyes in it which clogged my pores) and lack of water. within a month they were goneeeeeeee and i got off the meds. That was the WORST TIME EVERRRRRRR the social isolation i went thru and self esteem issues were horrible.

and nothing will everrrr make me go back:nono: as long as I drink ample water, wash my face 3 times a day ( i have oilyskin) and use a white rag with noooo dyes in it my face is Ok. except for the occasional period pimple. My scars are basically all gone also. :)

I hope the generic version works well also because I know what hell it is to have a face with cystic pimples and scarring

Wow...I just went to my dermatologist the other day who gave me this extremely long speech on accutane, about the side affects includig birth defects and to look up the I-pledge, unfortunately he could not prescribe it to me because the gov. (FDA) maybe called him out a few years ago about not giving all his patients pregnancy testing before prescribing it. He also gave me this spew about Dr.'s more likely prescribing it to white women because most dr's would label black and latino women "baby making machines". I swear..this is all true!!
anyway, he referred me to another derm who he said may or may not prescribe me the medication based on how I carried myself during the appt. and how knowledgeable of the drug I was. I am serious!!!
Needless to say...the refered dr. has some issues with his policy number or something and wasnt taking any appts. according to my dr.'s office. Ughh..I am not kissing butt for medicince. I know there is dr's that wont judge me, but do whats best for my health and skin condition. I am even thinking about changing my reg. derm off that off the wall conversation. although I do understand there could be an issue on his part for liability. Either way, I have done my research, when I do find a derm. maybe I will ask about the generic version, and if it isnt strong enough then request accutane.
thanks for the info ladies...
