I cannot for the life of me, leave my face alone if I have a breakout!!!!:wallbash:

As a result, ANY pimple that appears on my face will always leave it's mark!

I need a facial cleanser that prevents ALL breakouts!!! :perplexed Picking in my face is like an addiction!!! I know that I should not do it, but I honestly cannot help it!

Any suggestions on facial cleansers, or products to remove the dark spots??

Thanks in advance!

The only thing I can suggest is an over the counter bleaching cream. It'll help speed up the fading process of blemishes.

Please try to not pick at your pimples. I know it's hard but in the end you'll have little to no scar once it clears.

What topical medicine (over the counter or prescribed) do you use?

Juice Beauty is a good organic fading system. I picked it up at Sephora based on another member here recommending it. It take a while, but it does a nice job of fading scars.

Go to your doctor and get a prescription for retin a. Not only will it fade your current spots but it will prevent new breakouts. I scar affter pimples no matter what, but since I stRted retin a I may get an occasional pimple, but no scars. It's usually not co ered by insurance, but worth the money. :yep:

the other thing is lustra af. You can get this online without a prescription from Canada or go to your doc here for a prescription. It is twice as potent as over the counter bleaching agents!

With these products I went from using concealer to not needing makeup.

edit: proactiv is a great product too, but if you get the above all you need us a mild soap like purpose or cetaphil

Please try to stop picking at your face! Its crucial or else anything you do to try to fix your skin will be a waste of time...I used to have bad hyper pigmentation from pimples; I still have a little but for the most part my skin is clear and continuing to clear up. I realized that I cant use benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid acne products.

I use a regular olive oil face wash from marshalls followed by the Burt's bees tomato toner for troubled skin( this stuff is like gold in a bottle); it will take off dirt and oil and dead skin which helps even out the complexion and for moisturizer i use a vitamin c cream from suki pure or naturopathica which also helps even out the complexion without clogging my pores; also mix in a sunscreen of your choice.

I second the Retin A use and Lustra. Another very good fade cream is Epiquin Micro, it works faster than the Lustra, IMO.

What website are you using when ordering from Canada?

My skin used to be horrible, and in the past few months has cleared up significantly. Here's what I do:
Wash day and night with raw african black soap. Must be raw, not the commercial stuff they sell in boxes. looks like this (http://shop.sheanmore.com/product.sc;jsessionid=2AB2495F21A6D4BAB0E7A9E4AC61 4EFD.qscstrfrnt02?productId=44)
Twice a week, scrub with fine sea salt.
I DO NOT dry my face with a towel. I let it air dry.

And lastly...
This lady suggested I do this: Go to a store like trader joe's and get a bottle of calcium, magnesium and zinc pills. It's about $2.50 and Trader Joe's. Then crush the pills into a fine powder and apply to face after washing. You might look like a ghost but that's cool. For this reason, I only do this at night, lol. This is a good remedy for acne, but because those minerals aid in the skin's natural healing processes, I found that it works wonders on scars as well.

Hope that helps!

I recently went and got a facial and the lady that gave me the facial gave me the best advice...I've been on accutane, used the acne.org method and always end up with breakouts....

She told me that salicylic acid is ur friend...

So i've been using neutrogena acne wash, then she said it is sooooo important to use a non irritating astrigen like witch hazel, b/c it is gentle and she said something about ph levels after washing ur face, so I follow with witch hazel.

SUNSCREEN is ur friend!! I wait a few and then use neutrogena visibly even that has SPF 30!!

And my face is looking soooooo much better....

She also said it helps to exfoliate but dont over do it, maybe only do it 2-3 a week.... so St. Ives is my friend now

That SIMPLE regimen along with drinking more water has helped....I pick just like u but try this out...

I scar no matter what whenever I get a large pimple/whitehead. They eventually fade; though I've also used fading creams, because it is a slow process. I recently (April) started rotating glycolic and lactic acid peels (I try to average one peel every 4-7 days) and there has been a substantial improvement in my skin's tone and texture, but I'd probably be completely even IF I wasn't still having occasional breakouts (and if I were more consistent).

It's been hard trying to figure out what's triggering the breakouts. I know it's mostly hormonal, but I've also developed strange allergies--e.g. now Carmex gives me hives. I've only added a few products at a time, to gauge my response: peels, Dove, benzoyl peroxide (BP), Aveeno sunscreen/moisturizer, and I occasionally use Maybelline to cover the new hyperpigementation--and I also just introduced (as in yesterday) a honey/yogurt/lemon mask, which I plan to do weekly. :-)

Before April, I didn't have a regime. My skin wasn't super bad, but I would have the occasional breakout and I was always glossy. I regularly used the Wal-Mart brand face wipes and I had Dove's Skin Vitalizer, but then I had some kind of allergic reaction during Spring Break, being too random and careless with what I was putting on my skin.

I decided it was past time to set myself straight. So, I got serious about my skin, and my health in general. I've researched a lot but I learn something new nearly every day, but now my skin seems almost normal--and I'm no longer oily, and I usually go without makeup. I still get a little bit of shine, late in the day, but nothing like before, and I do still have a little ways to go to "perfect," but I am so happy with my skin now.

Anyways, I use BP to try to get rid of the breakouts, but I think honey is quicker--I put some on a breakout on my forehead last night (probably from sweating) and it's gone now. You have to be patient with the BP, and there's still a risk of scarring, but I think it works.

I definitely want something that will totally get rid of the breakouts. I'll ask my PCP about Retina A, and maybe get a referral to a dermatologist. I have some Retina-A-face/wrinkle cream, which I purchased for a crease under my eye that I'm trying to get rid of, but it's not an actual wrinkle so they've had no effect.

Anyways, I agree that stopping them is the best solution because it is hard to resist picking, especially when you just want to get rid of it. When I was in junior high, suffering with my first breakouts, it was easy to rationalize that a scar would eventually fade and until it did it could be covered with makeup (which of course lead to more breakouts). But yeah, ultimately the ideal is to have healthy/pretty skin, and I'm coming to believe that's possible for all of us. :-)

Oh, yeah, thanks Simply Blessed. I forgot I started using Witch Hazel with my chemical peels (before/after), after reading through some threads here, and I also use Biore's Ice Cleanser once or twice a week, which has salicyclic acid. I'm going to set a schedule for all of this stuff to make sure I don't miss anything because I think that contributes to my breakouts. I think I start slacking when the going is good. :-)

Thanks LADIES!!!

To answer some of the questions asked...I honestly dont experience very many breakouts, but for some reason, all of a sudden, I am have been getting frequent painful zits these past few months...Could be stress, could be the fact that I am no longer on birth control???

For the most part, I use Oil of Olay sensitive skin cleanser..I have used Proactiv,Black Soap, Neutrogena, Noxzema, Some handmade natural lemon grass soap - but they all burned my skin :perplexed..But my skin is VERY oily also...

With the change in the weather, I may need to change up my cleansing routing for the summer..Maybe use some a little stronger than the sensitive skin cleanser!

What kind of black soap did you use? Note that they are not all the same. I've used certain types of black soap that have wreaked havoc on my face.

You and I are having the same problem. I went off my birth control 2-3 months ago, and I started breaking out, especially along my jaw line.

I went to the dermatologist but she wanted to push so many prescriptions on me! :ohwell: Right now I'm doing oil washing, mixing vitamin E oil in my night cream, exfoliating regularly, bentonite clay masks about once a week, and using honey as well. I think I will add an aspirin mask to the mix as well.

Just keep on top of your vitamins. Don't use every cleanser you can think of on your face or that will make it worse.
My foster sister had this happen to her and it was really bad. Now you can't tell she had so many spots.
But, a quick fix is benzoyl peroxide. I didn't like using it as it made my face dry and peel but within 3-5 days of using it day and night all my spots were completely gone.

I am the same way. It's funny, because I read something that said it is a mild form of OCD, and I believe it, looking at other things in my life. (stoppickingonme.com is a really good website.) I mean, clearly we are not conscious of what we are doing when we do it, and people saying "just stop" doesn't work. But just like you said, I cured my acne and cured the picking. Retin A helped (my dr gave me 6 months worth of free samples because he is awesome), but now I am into over-the-counter/natural remedies.

*wash face with Desert Essence face wash using Clarisonic
*ACV toner
*moisturizer with SPF 30 everyday, regardless of the weather
*scrubs/masks (right now the lemon and sugar scrub in Pokahontas' thread and a Greek yogurt/raw honey mask)

My face is clear except for the occasional pimple or two when it is that time of the month, and my scars are fading as well. Someone mentioned something to me about an AHA cream at Walgreens that I may try, but I really think 2-3 chemical peels will finish off the elimination of my scars. HTH.
