I don't use the foundations, cause they break me out. I have tons of other stuff tho....

Lately my blush has been looking a bit splotchy so I am going to experiment with Nars blushes.....

I think when they have MUAs that give you a harsh artificial look; adios mio that can turn someone off to a line, but it is so application dependent.

I agree with you, Vev. Every time I go by the counter, the MUAs look attractive, but so made up, I just wonder what they look they under all that makeup.

And yes, their foundations break me out something awful. Besides a couple of lipliners and one lipstick shade, I'm not into this line at all.

I'm mor of a Bobbi Brown type of girl.

i wouldn't consider MAC everyday makeup. Nars and Bobbi Brown have really good foundations and blushes for everyday wear. i would wear MAC because i prefer the made-up look more so than natural, but i don't care for their foundation either. it causes me to break out.

i think its overhyped and overpriced. There are so many other lines out there that give dynamic looks (aka Nars, Becca, MUFE, Bobbi Brown, Chanel). I dont HATE MAC because i do have a few things from their product line, but its not my favorite line by far.

I wanted to refresh my makeup collection and have purchased items from Bobbi Brown, MAC and today Nars.....

I'm done for now. Makeup has sure increased in price.... and I always buy dept store stuff..

MAC is best for color. I love them for that. I don't use them for foundation. The only thing I buy from mac is eyeshadow and lipstick.

I totally agree that if you want a timeless, classic look go to the other lines

I love MAC for color. They can't be beat, especially for the price considering it is a dept store brand. I don't wear their foundations anymore though. They seem to have changed them or something. But I do like MUFE, Bobbi Brown, and Nars as well.

There are other lines I could possibly get into but if they can't even make a shade of foundation for ME, then I keep it moving.

Because I dont want to pay $13 for one eyeshadow. Their foundations are just ok, not really all that great either.

I think a lot of people don't like MAC because so many act like it is the end all and only in makeup. It is so OVEREXPOSED that it becomes a turnoff. I actually like MAC for its color selection in shadows and lip products, their MSF's and some blushes, and the novelty of their new collections that come out around monthly, but I have SO MUCH stuff from other brands that I am a LONG WAY from being MAC loyal.

I like my makeup to look natural. It's my preference and the heavy makeup look wouldn't really fly where I work.

Thats interesting because their foundations and powders and the only ones that actually look really good on me... really natural and don't break me out. When I use MAC foundation, no one has ever accused me of caking on make up, having a mask, or my face and neck being a different color. It's so light and sheer...well the formula I use and the technique of application.

I think the makeup artists look like clowns. I know nothing about makeup the way you ladies do, but yellow eyeshadows, bright pink blush and fire engine red lipstick frightens me. I never see soft looking MUA's and it gives me an overall impression of makeup for a clown academy. Only because I lurk on the makeup forum I have changed my impression of MAC. I prefer Sephora though.

I think Bobbi Brown, NARS and MUF offer better, higher quality products. No matter what I do, MAC breaks me out. I initially fall in love, but that love is short-lived. The shadows are lovely and the lipsticks/glosses offer a wide range of pretty colors, but I'm learning that I don't stick with them. The glosses are too sticky. The lipsticks don't really last. The eyeshadows still crease after spending all that money. I find that Bobbi Brown--though she may not offer the range in selection--provides much better quality...even though it's expensive. It's so worth it.

I often feel that MAC make-up is for the daring. It's very progressive to me. I think Bobbi Brown is a bit more conservative. But I'm loving MUF and Cargo at the moment. Cargo is also daring, but I'm loving the neutral eyeshadow palette; it has writing on the shadow that directs you on how to apply the neutral colors. On sale now at ULTA and Sephora, it's well worth it.

I wear MAC's concealor and that's it for foundation-type stuff. I am primarily a MAC-nista when it comes to shadows and lippies because it's the most reasonably-priced high end brand with a wide variety of shade and finishes. IMO, they have everyone else beat. I still get drug store stuff, but I mostly have MAC. :)

ETA: I've tried MAC's foundation- it was a no go. I looked like a mannequin or something. I don't like to look too perfect or fake. I use Smashbox tinted moisturizer.

I have the most sensitive skin ever but for some reason MAC foundations have never broken my face out and they look great on my skin. But let me buy the wrong body wash at the store. I think I've tried every foundation/powder formula they offer and I have 4 or 5 different ones in my collection. Never a cakey/over done look. I think it's all in the application. If you put it on with a heavy hand or without the right tools it will look cakey. I do have a lot of products from other lines that I like though. :yep: I'm not strictly a MAC girl.
