So I'm having a bit of a setback right now, and after some reflection I've pinpointed the cause. This dang HEAT! We've been in the hundreds for several weeks now (heat index, but shoot 98 and 100...no big friggin difference:rolleyes:) and under a heat advisory which basically means I don't feel like cooking nothing! On top of that the kids are home for the summer and stuck inside because of the heat advisory which means I'm constantly running after them and trying to keep them entertained. This further adds to my no cooking attitude.

Since I'm following the belly fat cure, quick options that I normally turn to like Watermelon, Cantelope, grapes, carrots, apples, etc are out because they're too high in sugar which basically leaves leafy greens:barf: and starches as my only quick options.

Unfortunately I've been turning to starches and it has been oooooogly! Cheez It's, tortillas, potatoes, basically anything I can quickly grab and go that's low sugar.

I need some ideas of some 5 minute low prep meal ideas that are still heathy and low in sugar. I know we have some Foodies up in here so help a sistah out with some ideas!

Girl tell me about it. I had me a sugar free sno cone today and I don't care. It was TOO dang hot.

We have been making salads or microwaving some since my nieces have been here. Also we cooked yesterday and we are eating left overs.

I am about to pull out the crockpot tomorrow. That way we can have cooked food when we come back and not have to heat the oven.

I don't cook....soo my simple advice.

Tuna sandwiches (tuna packed with protein), sandwiches, tomato and cucumber salads (cold cold), take a sugar free drink and freeze it in the fridge..popsicles.

Salads are always good when it's too hot. With that you could get a couple of those Rotisserie Chickens that they sell at Sam's or a grocery store, use the microwave to make a couple of baked potatoes and call it a day.

Also pasta salads are great and you could make enough to carry over until the next day, eat it with a couple of crackers and boil some corn on the cob on top of the stove.

If you must cook though, I'd do it first thing in the morning, that way you can have it out of the way before the heat sets in; and barbecuing is excellent for days when you don't want to heat up the indoors.

I've been eating turkey sandwiches on the days when I don't feel like cooking. I try to have grilled chicken breats on hand and ready at all times, that way I can easily make a salad, wrap, chicken club, etc.

I don't like to cook no matter what time of year it is ! (LOL)
I use the crockpot ALOT. It's nice and easy and you can put the stuff in there and leave it alone. I use it for soups and meats. I also buy pre-seasoned chickened breast and turkey burgers for my hubby. I throw them on the Foreman grill (it works well if you don't have one). Also fish is easy. I season and broil salmon or flounder, it takes a total of 10 minutes. For my side dish I'll have some frozen veggies that I heat up in the microwave or a salad.
