What is colon hydrotherapy/colonics? It's a safe and effective method of removing waste from the large intestine without the use of drugs. By introducting filtered, temperature regulated water into the colon, stool is loosened resulting in evacuation of waste matter through intestinal movement.

My Experience

I made an appointment about a month and a half ago (the place I went to has sooo much business that it took this long to get in). I couldn't eat 2 hours prior to the procedure so I ate my lunch around noon. I get to the office, then get called to the back where the nurse weighs me and explains the procedure. She tells me that I am to put on the gown, straddle the table and insert the lubricated tube "in there". :perplexed She leaves to give me privacy to do my business. Confident that I can do it, I get undressed, put on the gown (open in the front) and lay down to insert the tube. That sucker wouldn't budge!! :wallbash: I tense up and have to wait on her to come back to help me. :perplexed After she gets it "in there" and tells me that my gown is on wrong, she explains that I need to massage my stomach to "wake up" my colon. She shows me the mirror so that I can see when the water is flushing out my colon and what it is I'm getting rid of. She starts the water and tells me to hold it (kinda like holding gas) for 20-30 seconds. At this point, I'm thinking, "I can handle this, easy!". She leaves and it goes good for about 5 minutes...UNTIL

I feel a diarrhea-like urge come over my entire body that makes me feel weak. It gets extremely difficult each time I have to hold the water. When I look in the mirror I see little chunks of waste coming out. The longer the hold, the more you expel.

I manage to finish the procedure but afterwards I feel drained and completely out of energy. Not a good feeling :nono: but I go to the restroom to sit on the toilet because I'm still having those diarrhea-like urges and DON'T want to have an accident. After about 5 minutes nothing ever comes out so I get dressed and the nurse briefs me on what to eat and what not to eat in the days to follow. I am to drink plenty of juices, electrolyte restoring liquid, take acidophillus tablets and eat chicken, turkey and fish (no pork or beef for me lately anyway) .

Sooo would I do this again? Definitely!! :yep: Even after feelin exhausted through and after the procedure, I lost ounces. There's still water that my body is holding onto so I'm sure there will be poundage lost. I've been to the restroom so many times since making it home that I've lost track. Whether or not I lose weight isn't my biggest concern, I'm happy with getting rid of the debris that was trapped in my colon.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I really want to get a colonic done (to get all the gunk out). I need to schedule one.

Thanks for sharing.... I've been reading a lot about it and I've already spoke to the nurse at the doc's office about scheduling it

Just curious...instead of doing this couldn't you just up your fiber and fluids intake? That ALWAYS gets things movin.:yep:

It's about the same size as the tip of a pinky finger, maybe a little smaller.

The colonics got rid of stuff I don't think a regular movement would get. But I do plan on upping my fiber intake to maintain the results. I'll probably get the procedure done as the seasons change.

I've gotten a number of colonics and I've always been happy with the feeling afterwards. The only drawback has been having to "chat" with the hydrotherapist during the session. Its already an awkward experience, and she's a nice enough woman but that's not time I wanna converse.

I'm thinking of going to an open hydrotherapy clinic. Thats where you kinda administer the treatment yourself. I think the therapist just comes in to turn on the machine and it does the rest for you.

Has anyone gone through one of these sessions? Was it better for you? Also...the open colonic is only $50 a session as opposed to th $100 I was paying for the other.

That's the kind I went to. The aide only came in to check on me. Next time I go, I think I'll have my sister go to help me with massaging my stomach so I can concentrate more on holding the water inside.

^^cool. I think I'm going to try the open colonic. Thanks. i was also toying with the idea of buying a colonic board to do them myself at home, but that may be going a bit too far. I've seen them on ebay for $200+. The kit includes the board and a 5 gallon bucket with the tubing.

I could have sworn I posted in here:

Be careful about how often you get them done. I got them done once per week and by the 3rd week, I bled afterwards.

^^Doing them that often, I bet you WERE bleeding. I don't want anybody stickin anything "back there" that often. :nono: I don't plan on getting them done often and I also don't intend on using any process/procedure in the place of healthy lifestyle changes.

I had a few family members getting colonics, until my brother ended up colapsing and being rushed to the hospital after about six of them. They wash a lot of stuff your body needs away. You don't lose weight, just wter, and the waterweight that you lose comes right back.

Yeah, they did say that alot of the good bacteria is flushed out so they advise taking acidophillus pills and drinking electrolyte building beverages to get things back on the right track.
