View Full Version : FASHION PET PEEVES!!

Ladies I hope I am not alone when I see some women rocking things that just don't look good and they know it. If you have any fashion pet peeves shout them out here. I'll start. My BIGGEST pet peeve is this:
Whether your twins are at attention or saggy, Ladies PLEASE wear a bra with your wife beaters. This is not attractive AT ALL!! I love me some tight wife beaters and my twins stand at attention and I still wear a bra with them. And PLEASE buy the correct bra!! I HATE seeing women with a criss cross wife beater in the back and a regular bra on. They do sell criss cross bras! Invest in one. I don't wanna to see your bra straps. Whether they match the wife beater or not. This is tacky!!

Thank you. It is not sexy when your headlights are all out there on high beam, leave a little to the imagination.
Next pet peeve. I'm all for being imaginative and creative with the clothing, but I don't care how pretty the bra is, it is a bra and some women need to stop rocking them like they are regular tops.
I have seen some women who don't shave well enough rocking dangerously low riding low riders. Nuff' said.
Obviously fake designer knock offs. Certain companies don't make iron ons. Period. So stop rockin' em'.

Ok you made me spit out my water. PLEASE tell me you have not seen hair from down below on the low riders? Oh man If I ever saw this I would be disgusted. That is just nasty.
Also my pet peeve is. If you have corns and long toes. Open toed sandals may not be for you. When your toes are scraping the ground this is not cute. That goes for wearing mules that are too small and your heel is hanging out the back.

Also regarding the wife beaters. Just cause you may have small breasts. You still need a bra. Its just not cute.

Im not a fan of most urban wear. Especially on men!
I find most of the urban stuff for women to be straight hood ratish.
I dont like jerseys especially when its overly done like
they have a red bulls throwback on, red doo rag, red jordans with red shoelaces. All that color coordinating mess is too much! They look like clowns..

Grown women wearing shorts
Chunky heels

women whose breasts are way to big and saggy to not be wearing a bra !!

thongs showing intentionally

Really about the shorts? Do you mean like short shorts? What should men wear in the summer then? Just jeans? I don't see anything wrong with the long jean shorts that men wear. Most NY mens shorts are so long they look like pants anyway

Huge logos
wearing stilettos when you can't walk in them
overly matching
visible rolls hanging out of shirts or over pants
with guys i hate suits with tennis shoes
earrings lined all the way up your ears
wearing the wrong size

For me I think most women DONT look good in shorts. Especially older women, its way to young/school girl-like. Shorts tend to be a hit or miss on most women I see anyway.

Me and my friends call this ice cream. Cause it looks like when they put ice cream in a cone from one of those machines. How it just hangs over the cone.

Hmmm, there are soooo many, but here are some highlights:
*Coogi sweaters--should RIP w/Biggie!
*Tim's/oversized clothing in the 100 degree weather of summer
*Short shorts and cottage cheese thighs (just don't)
*Head-to-toe logo dressing (I don't care if it is real, it screams trashy/no class/no taste)
*Anything with obvious Burberry plaid! (Now from Burberry, I have a black coat lined with plaid and a pair of black stiletto boots also lined inside with plaid, but those purses and sandals with the plaid on the outside have to go! Everybody and their mother has those! Yuck!
*And lastly, I cannot stand when someone has a nice bag that cost them a grip, but are wearing Payless shoes and the discount market outfit. It you can't put it all together, or at least make it all look like it is worthy of the bag, then just don't! Get some priorities!
Ok, those are the major ones for me!
Pants or shorts so tight I see camel toe.
Wearing two sizes smaller than you are, thin or overweight it just looks wrong.
Visible thong lines.
Wearing stilettos that you can't walk in. Don't pull out the 5" until you've mastered the 4".
Celebrity fake jewelry (fake J. Lo pink diamond ring, Vanessa's purple diamond, etc.)
Not dressing for the weather.
Visible rolls
Bad bras. If you have big breasts, get a bra with some support. Don't let them hang to your waist. Body by Victoria has great bras up to size 40DD.

Ok, I confess, I'm a non-bra wearer! I'm a B cup and my girls stand up on their own, so I don't wear bras. They are irritating and pointless for *me*, so I don't bother.
My peeves:
People that wear clothes that don't fit! If you are a certain size and have gained weight, stop squeezing yourself into your smaller clothes.
Timbs and other heavy winter type gear in the summer time.(why are you wearing a Rocawear pullover when it's 95 degrees out?)
Clothes with lots of visible logos.
Loads of junky, fake jewelry.

You wear your wife beaters with no bra? Girl please tell me you don't. They are not pointless and a B cup is big enough to put one on. An A cup maybe but a B yeah

Well, I don't wear wife beaters out, only around the house. But, yes, I don't wear bras with anything else. I just figure they're for support and I don't feel that I need that. Bras either:1. push my boobs so far up that they look ridiculous or 2. smash them so close to my body that the feel ridiculous. They are perky, firm, and do not need to be help up by a bra. It's not about me trying to be sexy by not wearing one, I just honestly feel they hold no purpose for *me*. Now, in 10 years it'll be a different story. :D
okey dokey!
1. Wearing tops that intentionally show your tatoos, which incidentally are very lowwwwwwwwwww!
2. Wearing open toed shoes that you just know you have no business wearing cuz your feet are rough looking, scaling, two-toned from dead skin, and no lotion.
3. Fake hair that comes out all over the bathroom sink at work.
4. Wild-colored hair at work. Mistook you for one of our clients!
5. Wearing inappropriate clothing to work such as your skin-tight sweatered material pants with the panty lines and rolls showing.
6. Unkempt braids.
7. Bare-legged and you know that you have NO business coming to work like that because your legs look like you've been in a battle!!!
8. Wearing jewelry just for the sake of wearing it, or trying to wear ALL of your jewelry at once!
That's it for now. Don't even get me started. Thanks for allowing me to vent!

Oh yeah I don't wear bras with anything UNLESS my nips are going to show and I'm going to work or church. Otherwise I don't wear em at all. Bras are too expensive. I mean all that money to cover my itty bitty boob. Give me a piece of tape to hide my nips and I'm good to go.

Ladies I am in a D cup and I have extremely perky breasts. I guess cause I have no kids. My husband says they look like coat hooks and a lot of people ask me if they are fake. I have GREAT rack. I still wear a bra. The only time I don't is with a tube top or with a tank or halter top that has a built in shelf bra.
So those that don't wear them I hope you are fashion conscious enough to know when ya do need one.

Those furry looking high boots in the summer. STOP
Extremely Oiled-up legs and arms. Yuck.
Those bigs 80's colored hoop earings or any colored jewelry. Lawd. Let it burn
Dog chains on men. LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Not a good statement.
In Philly they wear alot of Dickies colthing. Dickies???? Need I say more.

- Clear Tennis Shoes (ok for kids)
- Opened toed shoes in the dead of winter
- Not dressing for the season. Apparently, people have added a season called “Swinter”.
- Timberland high heeled boots
- People dressed alike (it’s fine for kids, but not grown folks)
- Men wearing colored contacts
- Men wearing colored suits (purple, green, yellow)
- I’m not a lover of colored contacts, but to each his own, but don’t make the whole family wear them to make it seem like it’s genetic
- Men with greasy s-curl hair
- I too have been guilty of not wearing bras, but I want them to STAY perky, so I wear a bra at all times now, unless it’s a top where I can’t wear one, then I’ll put band-aids on my nips.

TOO MUCH COLOR. i.e. Pink shirt, pink belt, pink bag, pink earrings, pink shoes. :barf: Minimize the color, dont overdue.
People who wear boots when its 80 degrees outside.
Visible panty lines.
Mesh Slippers
Men in Pink (even though I have seen some cute shirts in that color).
That's all I can think of for now.

I'm gonna have to co-sign the chunky heels, the visible thongs, The big "Juicy" sign on the butt (grown women, please stop the madness. This is not for you. Also, I know pumps are in style now but you've got little 16 year old girls trying to rock them now. I see these girls wobbling around looking like they're about to topple over in pumps especially when those sneaker-boot things were in style. Anyway my list must continue:
TAN LINES!!!
Guys with relaxers
Anybody that still has a curl
Mule and flip-flop wearers with the dry/cracked heels.
People with "designer" car seat covers (Luis Vuitton seems to be a popular victim).
Fake designer anything and trying to pass it off as real.
Out of all the fakes, I HATE fake Burberry http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif.
Guys who drown themselves in cologne.
Guys with colored contacts.
White Tee wearers.
Women who dress like men
Grown women wearing weaved ponytails (WTF?) Not the plain ponytail wearers, but the ones that are half pony tail/ half hairstyles that I see the little girls wearing. I saw a 40 year old woman rocking that crap not too long ago.
There's more but i'll stop to breathe.
BTW, just as a side note...I've stopped wearing the french manicure on my nails because of the influx of hood rats and alley cats that seem to be attracted to that particular style now. I think there may be a misconception on the street corners that a french manicure automatically gives you class, hmmmm... go figure. I prefer the American manicure these days.

Yeah you are so right on the French manicure. To me it now has the opposite of it's intended (I guess) effect on me.

ITA about the french manicures. I stopped getting them about 4 years ago and I had worn them for about 5 years straight before that. I just get my nails buffed clear with that pink nail wax.

mizavalon, you're a B and you can get away without a bra? im jealous, im a B ( i think) and my breasts feel so heavy when i dont wear a bra, even when im just standing the shower. i thought only As would be able to get a way without a bra...shoot if i were a A i damn sure would never wear a bra
i agree about french manicures, i like the american manicure as well.
as for my pet peeves:
white bras under white shirts, ok i dont need to see all the details of your bra, please wear a blk bra to offset the colors thank you!
grown women in shorts
tall women rocking skirts that they know are too short to be wearing to work *and yes im tall , so i get especially peeved about this*
women with runs in their stockings, acting as though they dont know
women who wear a skirt, some stockings, and throw on tube socks and some sneakers on top, wtf?
women who think that a size 2 fits their size 8 waist, you shoudlnt have to hold your breath to squeeze inside.
girls/women who wear the colored dangling plastic earrings to match the color of their shirt
white tees down to the knees on men

Yes, my feeling is this. The purpose of a bra is to *support breasts*. If your breasts are already perky and they stand up fine on their own, I don't really see the point. I am speaking ONLY for myself. Everyone is different even if they wear the same size. Now when these girls stop cooperating, I'll be at La Perla with the quickness! http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

ppl who wear fall patterns in the summer...or all yr round for that matter...each label has patterns that are season appropriate...
and ppl who match everything...belt...hat...shoes..this is a major fashion..no-no...versus matching one or two pieces and adding a color that compliments the hue of your color code of that particular outfit...
my 2 cents...

Cosigning all of the above, and:
Very skinny people in form fitting clothes. Not slim. Skinny.
Too many layers - a shirt and a vest and a scarf and a poncho...you get the point.
Shimmery clothes. Esp on the bottom.
People with big flabby arms who insist on tanks and short sleeves.
Pants that are too long.
Cheap material.
That overmatching thing is big for me. Big. It doesn't all have to be the exact same color green.
Braids in the workplace. I just don't think they're appropriate.
Casual Friday outfits that turn into "Saturday at the beach with my homies outfits".
Overweight people in full white. Why? I understand you want to look cute - I'm one of you. Don't do it!
Linen in the dead of winter.
Colored Linen.
Dirty pashminas and scarves.
Visible back fat in public.
People who don't know the correct skirt length for them. If you're 5 feet long skirts are a don't. If you're tall, and you don't have GREAT legs, leave the mini's alone.
Head scarves. They just look so sloppy to me - even when they are supposed to be some kind of boho Erykah Badu thing. Comb your hair.
Beautiful shoes and ASHY legs and feet. Attend to your heels! While you're down there get your corns and your soles too.
Dirty, stained clothing. I have to wonder sometimes if people have eyes and mirrors....
Highwater pants. Tall girls - buy pants from a designer that accomodates your height. Or let me know when the flood is coming so I can be down.
Long crotches on pants. They call that the "rise" of the pants - measure yours and buy accordingly. Unless,of course, there's something in your pants that you need to accomodate that I don't know about. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Same deal in the back - if you have no *** try the clothes on and buy what fits. You look like you're carrying a load. Pull ups, anyone?

I cannot STAND the trend of ultra-low rise jeans with the thong sticking out. Get some d*mn pants that fit!
Overly slutty outfits.
The trend of designer monogrammed clothes, purses, shoes, etc. It is waaay out of hand.
In the midwest I see this a lot - dudes with ultra baggy, saggy pants and humongous white t-shirts that reach their knees.
Do-rags in public. So tacky!
Gold teeth.
Too much bling for men and women. Lately I've been seeing young boys that wear these ridiculously huge earrings - these studs on steroids.

Another pet peeve of mine is people that don't dress their age. I don't care if you're still wearing a size 4 like you did 20 years ago. If you are 50 years old, keep yo' tail outta ruffled mini-skirts and Hello Kitty t-shirts! Who cares that it fits? That stuff is for young girls, DRESS YOUR AGE!!!

What's wrong with braids in the workplace, do you mean badly done ones or just braids in general?

LOL! Nothing personal braided ladies....I just don't think they're appropriate, no matter how neatly done they are, or how you wear them.
Braids are a "chill out" casual do to me. Even if they are fashioned into a bun. IMO they are for vacations and times at home - not work. /forums/images/graemlins/look.gif

Alright, Miss Tracy... even though I don't have braids. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Ok, adding to the peeve list or should I say my PERSONAL preference list....
I don't like seeing nails with acrylic tips that have outlandish designs on them in the corporate workplace... especially if they are very long. I'm talking about nails with flags, smileys, excessive rhinestones, etc /forums/images/graemlins/look.gif
