Tell me how you have the patience to go through racks and rummage. I hate that! I love deals just as much as the next girl but there's only so much I can take. I like to use discount codes, coupons, sale days etc...

It's annoying and time-consuming but I really think it's worth it. You have to go on a stress free day. I've walked in thrift stores and got so over-whelmed I just walked back out so you really have to go on a good day.

I ask the people at marshalls, off 5th, nordstrom rack etc in the customer service dept when their new shipments came in if she would say on a thursday morning I would always shop there on thursday evenings because they had organized the store and there was a large picking of new items

Shopping during the end of the season or during the off-season. Now is a great time to get summer clothes for cheap. I'm definitely going to take advantage of that since I'm going to Hawaii in Oct. and you won't be able to find warm weather stuff then.

January & end of July are when everything is marked down to make room for the new season's merchandise! These are the best times to go and still have a good selection of items. Items will still be marked down until they are gone, but with each passing day the selection gets poorer.
The second best time is right at the beginning of the season when new products are initially brought in. Usually there are good sales right away.

In my area there are stores called Name Brand Clothing. They get marked down, returns, overstock, clothes from stores like: Nordstrom, Dillards, The Jones Stores, Marshalls, Filenes, and other top stores.
You can spend hours sorting through the chaff, and inspecting the merchandise for damage, but imo it is worth it.
I have bought everything from cashmere coats, hats, and scarves to silk underwear at prices so low you would not believe me.

ask for discounts "this looks worn how much can i get off" this works for deoderant, makeup, dusty etc looking clothing that you want but notices slight imperfections on. Write letters and fill out feedback cards Especially when you get shabby service. They like to keep you comming back by offering discounts and gift cards.
