Have you been measuring or weighing yourself GMMP? Are you seeing any results?

No, queeny, I haven't weighed or measured myself. I started this on 8/1 and decided I would measure every 4 weeks. So that everything would be the same - same time after the menses, same time of day, etc. I'm not a fan of the scale though so I didn't weigh myself. So, I'm due to measure on 8/29. Hopefully, I will have lost something.

http://webpages.charter.net/connectingzone/naughty/8.gifI'm actually ashamed to show myself here. I said I was joining this challenge 2 weeks ago, and what have I done? One day of walking:running!! Although . . . I have still been doing the walking part! http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I could make excuses by saying it's starting to get cold hear already , I need my music and my walkman is too cumbersome when I'm trying to run, and I want (and sort of need) some new shoes, but I think we all know that if I was really committed, none of these things would be stopping me. That said, I will now promptly exit this thread. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I got a headstart today on Week 4 cuz I'm going on vacation next week and may not be able to do it for a couple of days. It actually wasn't that bad! I'm going to try to squeeze in another tomorrow then I'll prob won't be able to do this workout again until Thurs. We'll see.
Can some please explain this workout for me,
Is it like for example you walk for a few minutes and then you start running ,and then walk again for a few minutes,
someone pls correct me if i am wrong.

Yes, juju. That's exactly it. But this is week 4. The first 3 weeks are getting you ready to begin to run. Here's the first 4 weeks. Just start it up and join us. The week 1 thread was bumped so just join the ladies who started walking there. Read the first post and make sure that you can already walk 20 minutes comfortably.
And I can't stress enough to warm up and cool down and STRETCH. I suggest stretching your leg muscles right after your warm-up. And again after your cool-down.
Week 1
Walk 4 minutes; run 1 minute. Do this 3 times. Total walk time 12 minutes. Total run time 3 minutes. Do this 3 times this week. I shortened it like this:
Week 1
walk:run
4:1
3x
3 days/wk
Total time: 15 min
total walk: 12 min
total run: 3 min
Week 2
walk:run
4:2
3x
3 days/wk
Total time: 18 min
total walk: 12 min
total run: 6 min
Week 3
walk:run
3:2
4x
3 days/wk
total time: 20 min
total walk: 12 min
total run: 8 min

I wanna join http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/trampoline.gif. I love this forum http://www.joshuapettit.com/graemlinlibrary/dancingman.gif
My goal is to be able to run 5 miles. I want to log about 20 miles per week (working out 4x per week). I started just like you all have only I do it for 40-50 mins. I'm in week 3 too, b/c I didn't work out once last week. I was seeing results too but I was traveling and had a million social engagements. But I'm running right after I leave my office today and won't have any extended breaks until Labor Day when I travel again.
I established my model on stamina and distance goals. I think if I did time I would give it less than my all. I started from ground zero basically, so I was only able to run 0.5 mile, then another 0.25 after a walking break. I can now run that distance all at once (0.75 miles), and add another 0.25 after a walking break. I run on a trail, hilly terrain during the week (it's probably just @ or slightly under 3 miles, I make up for it by climbing this steep path before cool down). Then I do the treadmill at the gym or on a track one day of the weekend (3.0-3.25 miles). I can't wait til I can phase out the walking altogether and just run. I enjoy it more than I ever thought I would. I feel so strong and empowered afterwards. Like I really accomplished something important!
I'm so happy we will all be here to support each other and stay on track!!!! Happy Trails!!!! http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I want to do this http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/ohwell.gif but last time I started jogging to lose weight I lost it all http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I'm just getting my butt back now, but the pouch is back too.

kisz4tj, I hear ya! When I lose, I lose everything. Boobs, butt, etc! How do you only lose your problem areas? I've been running for the past couple of weeks and so far, so good. But the only areas I want to get smaller are my belly and hips. I like everything else and don't want to lose it!

Exactly...see I all I need to lose is my belly. Ya know what! I want to take before and after pics..that would be good....I forgot to do that last time. It took a good 4 months to regain my curves http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif HOW DO I ONLY DO THAT?

I did workout #1 for this week. Not bad at all. I'm so proud of myself. Let's go ladies. We can do this!!! I have never run as many minutes in one workout before. I am so motivated to do this because I think I actually CAN do this. After this, look out. I might start training for a 15K.

ReaLuv, do you stretch right after you warm up? I warm up for about 5-7 minutes and then I start the walking part of the workout. My calf and hamstring had started to lock up and get that non-feeling until I stretched right after my warm-up. Yesterday I stretched for longer because I knew that I would be running longer and it paid off. I didn't have any trouble in that area. You might want to do some leg curls and hamstring curls to strengthen the area also. Last night after my run, I came in and sat on the couch with a 3-pound dumbbell on each thigh and just lifted my legs parallel to the floor one at a time. I did this for about 3 commercials. My husband told me that I would need to do some strengthening exercises because of the increased running. Especially since my legs aren't used to that kind of workout.
On another note, I'm glad that I started running. My endurance is building. My husband bet me that I couldn't jump rope for 30 seconds but I proved him wrong. Not only did I do it, but I did it after trying to teach my daughter how to jump AND after my run.

http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/weird.gif GMMP!!!! Jumping rope is great exercise and increased stamina has so many wonderful perks http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.
Okay, I realized you all are a bit ahead of me. I think I'm really on week 2, certainly not week 4. I can't run that long. But I'll get there in due time. I ran yesterday and felt like my pelvic floor was going to hit the ground. Goodness my abs are weak. But today we shall return and try once again. No more lapses in training http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/nono.gif.
Keep runnin' ladies!!!!

Sengs, I don't know what you're calling a long time, but I only run 3 minutes at a time. If you're going 3/4 mile, that's much more than 3 minutes unless you're doing a 5 minute mile, i.e., running 12 mph. I figured that a 3-minute jog is about equivalent to MAYBE 3/10 mile for me. Maybe more - I don't know how fast I'm going.

Maybe I still don't understand. The reps confuse me. I'm thinking you do the entire 24 minute set 4 times. Which would total 96 mins, 48 mins running and walking, at the end of 4 reps. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/look.gif What am I missing? Is your total workout time 24 mins? I certainly can't run for 48 mins, in part or total right now http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/nono.gif.
