I'm having my chemical peel done today, so I guess I need to swing by and get some sunblock eh?

the ladies on here suggested nuetrogena dry touchhttp://tbn3.google.com/images?q=tbn:E8RnBXLf58bg2M:http://ohthewomanity.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/neutrogena_ultrasheerspf70.jpg (http://ohthewomanity.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/neutrogena_ultrasheerspf70.jpg) and i tried it and really like it, it has spf 70 and smells pleasent- actually a really light scent that fades almost instantly, it's not sticky like i've found others to be and so far i consider it a good investment. good luck with your peel:grin:, i'm actually thinking of getting one myself this summer

THANX!!! I'm so mad. THey told me to hold off on the peel until a few more weeks because my skin is evening out with just the facials. I don't see it...but okay. I'll give them one more week.

Don't be upset. Less is more. Personally, I will delay getting a peel as long as I possibly can. I'd rather go for facials. The deeper you "tear" into your skin, the more likely to cause trauma to it you are. I'd rather take off thin layers over a long period of time than rip out a chunk in one time. To me the former is safer and easier to control and perhaps gives a longer result.

When I look at people that get peels regularly, they seem to need them more often. Then I look at folks who use AHA like Queen_T) and I see how flawless the skin looks and how there never seems to be a "down time" where they need to do something. I have seen that with me too when I used AHAs regularly: my skin looked airbrushed all the time. But when I'd do scrubs once a week, my skin would look great afterward then a few days later it would look dull and like I need to exfoliate.

I've shared how excessive exfoliation can lead to aging, so if you can get away with gentle methods, no matter how slow they seem, the results are so worth waiting for. Patience is a virtue.

Hello,

I went to derm and asked about the peels. She said that I need to get 6 within a 3 week interval spans. It is supposed to improve skin by 60% which to me sounds great. I have a lot of scars from acne. Anyway my sis was telling me today that Dr. Zizmor (sp) a very popular or at least once was derm in NYC (not sure he he had offices in other states) told her not to get the chemi peels because you will keep needing them and her marks are not that deep -something to this effect. My other sis did them herself at like 30% I told her that it was too high for 1st time at least by her. I'm not quite sure what is going on with her skin but I'm not sure I'm impressed.

Anyway I have seen Nonie responses before and want to try the AHA's for sometime to see what happens. My marks do not go away easily at all but I will give it a try. I'm trying Ole Herinkson now.

BTW just how are people maintaining chemi peels. How often do you get them after 1st series?

I saw on tv earlier this week that we need sunblock as opposed to sunscreen.

Hmm this is interesting. I was really upset that they won't give me a chemical peel because I felt as if they are just taking my money. I felt that a facial is something I could be doing at home, and because of of that, I couldn't see any benefit in them reducing my scars from doing them.

I went in yesterday, and like I said they said that the scars are a lot less noticeable. I looked like  but I now think that naturally lightening the face is wayyy better than chemical peels even if it's not that "quick fix" that I desperately want

I'ma keep trying to erase the scarring as much as I can without the use of a chemical peel, because I think you do build up a dependency to it like Nonie said. My skin is still pretty scarred though. Attachments are below

This is how mine look as well maybe a little less in some areas. I would like to give the AHA's a try for at least 4-5 months to see what happens. I will also do research to see what else people are using to see perhaps what I can use. The main thing right now is to get the breakouts under control which is what any derm will tell you. My skin has been going strong the last couple of weeks with little to no breakouts and would like to see how this works before adding anything else. Right now would like to see how the vitamin c and aha is working for me. The problem with people like you and I marks don't fade the way others who claim it does in 2 weeks. I wish!

That is so true ESPECIALLY when I've had these marks since I was about 12. They are slowly going away though. If I could just get a handle on this bumps I would be fine. It's coming though. Drinking 50-64 oz of water a day and urine therapy has been helping me out a lot! It's probably going to tkae until August to get my skin right, but at least I'm taking steps in the right direction for first time.
