What "rules" do you follow?

I don't think it HAS to be out, but if it's done, it has to be extremely modern and fashionable, and I have to be able to tell that the person doing it is doing so on purpose...not just because they don't know any better .

I don't wear coats shorter than my skirt lengths. That's the only real rule I follow. Everything I else, I break (bags matching shoes, no mixing prints, etc).

I guess it depends on the white. You can do a winter white or an off white or cream!

I like stark white in the winter time. White boots or white wool coats are hot to me. The only rule I follow is not to wear navy blue with black. Everything else can definitely be broken if you can pull it off.

this is the one fashion rule i break with reckless abandon i wear pure white year around no winter white for me i wear white shoes year round too, gotta be careful sometimes white shoes look strange so i usually stick to strappy sandals or boots

ITA with the blue with black as well as brown and black yuck! I live in NY and I saw a woman with an off white woal coat, slacks and turtle neck with a pair of rust colored boots with bag to match and it looked HOT! If I find a pair of hot white boots I would damn sure wear them in the fall/winter, I'm not going to wear them in the summer. You just gotta know how to put them together.

I remember when I was a kid and went shopping for school clothes, my Mom would not let me get anything white. I thought it was a dumb rule then and I still do.

That rule definitely doesn't apply in Miami. I've never been a fan of white shoes that aren't tennis shoes--but I've seen some hot white boots that I think could be worn in the winter. They look really edgy...

Okay why is this a rule and who came up with it. Iv'e always hated this rule. As far as I'm concerned if you like white and it looks good on you, wear it however, wherever, and whenever you like.

Ok, labor day is an American holiday that is on the 4th ? of september, really I don't remember what it is exactly, but after that it's generally going into fall, so that's what that's about....Anyone correct me or add to it if I'm wrong http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Labor Day is the first monday in september. it kinda signifies the unofficial season change..from summer to fall. hence the fact that some people say you shouldn't wear white in the fall or winter...HTH

here's an official definition of labor day though - "a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country."

i dont think you absolutely have to stop wearing white right after labor day, but you def. shouldnt be rocking white if you live in the midwest or northeast or anywhere where its cold in the fall and winter. for one, isnt it too cold to be wearing anything as sheer as white, unless its a white coat?

i cant see someone rocking white pants in december

No white after labor day is a stupid useless dictate- who the hell thought of that one, I'll never know. I never bought into that crap. I too, create my own style. There is no long dead prude who is gonna tell me what color to wear at what time of year.

you def. wont find white in stores here for fall, at least white pants and shoes

i've seen a good number white white boots for winter and so forth but I think a lot of the things in stores are winter whites except for some of the mod pieces

ick! I hate winter white. Maybe because it's a sign of that garbage rule- by the way, along with those rules goes NO white heels EVER, and only white or tan socks- no other colors.

i have a pair of pointy white shoes that i have been rocking but sad to say after labor they will be thrown out...they r on the brink anyway

i dont think nec all white but i will not rock white jeans in the winter...

THIS RULE IS VERY CLIMATE/SEASONAL SO IT ALL DEPENDS WHERE YOU LIVE
