Ok, I'm sure I read somewhere that it's good to wash your face with baking soda. I could be wrong b/c I am famous for reading something half way and then "concluding" that I know the whole deal. :look: In any case, I washed my face with baking soda, followed up with witch hazel and Vitamin E oil. I did this on twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday. Yesterday (Monday), my face felt like it was about to come off. :ohwell: I have tiny bumps all over my face (everywhere) and my face feels "stressed out". *Sigh* What is a girl to do??? How can I make the bumps disappear and make my skin feel better?

First give your face a little rest from the witch hazel, second drink a lot of water wash your face with pure water though out the day then apply a little vitamin e just to moisturize your face you should be fine. Remember water is the main key

So the witch hazel is the culprit?

I dont know if that started the bumps {witch hazele} but I know it can be a little harsh on your skin if you use to much and you face feel extremely dry

Be careful with the baking soda. Make sure you use a little with water and then rinse only with water, not a rag. The rag helps to scrape the baking soda on the face causing irritation. Once it clears up try Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with water 50/50 solution. You can pour some on a cotton ball and swipe across face. I love it!

Aha! Pleasure to meet someone else who didn't like baking soda on her skin. Sometimes I feel like I'm somewhat alien when I read raves about this on skin when it took only ONE use of the stuff on my face for me to conclude that the only place baking soda belongs is in my mouth. On my hair it was horrible and on my skin it was just as bad. I just can't believe you did it TWICE!!!
I think you should just leave your face alone and let it heal. Use plain water or do OCMs if they don't cause you any harm. I am afraid doing anything else may traumatize your face more.
Honestly, unless you're really having problems with your face, I really think you should stick to the regimen you know. Only make changes if something isn't working. I was recently reminded of the beauty of KISS, if you can get away with it, when I saw this 50-year old lady's face (http://healthyskin.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1480045352/m/394102351).
ETA That lady's regimen is shared in the comments.

Yeah, girl. Twice on both days. Stupid, stupid. me. :wallbash:
The crazy thing is that I don't have bad skin, AT ALL. I just wanted to "try" something new. Major FAIL! I will continue to stick with my Cetaphil. It's gentle and it works. :yep:

My skin doesn't really like baking soda either. I've found that I end up with skin irritations on my hands and neck when I use it. Almost like it burned me or something. This is even when it's mixed with my creamy cleanser, so I just stick to other methods of exfoliation.

It was probably the baking soda. I use baking soda and vinegar to exfoliate and it works very well now but I had some problems with the bs at first. I don't think I broke out but it burned and my face felt sensitive. It works better if I use it on damp almost dry skin making a past out of the bs and massaging it in. When I had the irritation I was using it on wet skin and I think that's what it was. I guess because the pores are more open then, I have no idea.
