I must say jeans are the core of fashion. They're classic. You can dress em up with boots and a poncho or dress em down with sneakers and a baby t. Please share your jeans advice. From shopping to care!

Where do your purchase your jeans from?

What stores sell the best quality jeans?

How do you keep your jeans looking spiffy even after a year later?

I have to admit, it's hard for me to cop the perfect fit. If they fit comfortable, they look like something an old woman would wear. If they LOOK cute they're uncomfortable and I'm usually self conscious wondering if my panties will show if I'm sitting down in class. If they're both comfortable AND cute, when I do sit in class they're brushing my ankles (FLOODS!). Is this so hard to find? Something comfy, cute, with a decent length? Help me out!

I'm gonna add this to my favorites, because I'd like to know where to find the good jeans, too!

Right now, I have one pair that is the perfect fit, and I accidentally stumbled upon these at T.J. Maxx. They are made by Clere, and are the perfect length (32" inseam) and fit nicely over my big bootie and hips. They do have a tiny bit of spandex (1%) and I'm sure that's contributing to the nice fit.

When I do manage to find the perfect pair, I keep them a long time by washing in cold water with them turned inside out. I also don't wash after every single wear, but depending on the conditions under which I wear them, usually after every 2-3 wears.

Thanks pressncurl!

Does anyone know how to determine what inseam length is best for you based on height?

I can never find great jeans. I am pear-shaped and I only have one pair and I love them so much. They are from Abercrombie. Size 4 tall with a 35" inseam. I'm 5'8" and these are long enough for me to wear with heels. I really like these because they are they one of the very few non-stretch jeans that don't bulge out in the back on me. Too bad I can't get another pair :cry3: I got mine at a consignment shop for $13 only to find out when I went into the regular store that their jeans cost around $70. Also I don't think they carry that style anymore.

express jeans fit me GREAT....i recently ventured out to the GAP and bought some jeans from them and i get compliments on the fit ALL THE TIME...on a cheaper note, OLD NAVY jeans fit me pretty well...it's weird but i think i kinda have a small but curvy body (slim, small butt, tiny waist) so alot of my friends hate the way jeans from these stores fit them, but they fit me like a glove

Where do your purchase your jeans from?
Usually from boutiques.

What stores sell the best quality jeans?
I am usually looking for brands as opposed to stores--I know the brands that fit best, so I am looking to find those...preferably on sale! I like Sevens, Paper Denim, and Miss Sixtys. These became mine favorites because I think they fit Black women well. I'm not hippy, but I always have that gap in the back, because of my butt. The Papers and the Sixtys...I didn't even have to get them altered :). Also, the inseams are long enough (33-34"). I am 5'7", so that was a must. I don't know how to determine your inseam, Innocent, other than trying them on...however, I'm 5'7, and 33-34 is what I buy, and Rea buys 35" and she's 5'8, so you might be able to guesstimate from that. The only thing is the obvious--you can be someone's height and have shorter or longer legs because of your torso, but that might still be a good starting point.

How do you keep your jeans looking spiffy even after a year later? I get all my jeans I love dry cleaned. I dry clean all my real clothes, except my "Mom wear". I have some jeans from the Gap, a pair from Wet Seal, and then a couple of pairs of what I call my "Dominican jeans", that I wash.

HTH.

I cannot buy jeans from most retail stores because they cut them way too big for me. I have a pair of Seven's that are my absolute favorite! I can wear a lot of junior type brand jeans, but I don't like the way a lot of them look. The GAP and Old Navy cut too big, I haven't tried Express Jeans in a while, but if I'm going to pay like $70 for my jeans I might as well get some Seven's from Filene's or eBay & know they'll look good. :)

I have recently fallen in love with express jeans (the ones I get form TJ MAxx for cheaper) because they flatter me well and I like some of the washes (dirty, slightly dirty, slightly faded):) I also like levis. Its very basic but they fit me well and flatter.

Using your height can provide you with a really rough (but not perfect) estimate of your inseam length. I'm 5'7", but anything greater than 33" is too long for me. 32" is perfect--touches right behind my heel, maybe 1/4" from the floor.

Another way to find yours is to take a pair of pants that you think are the perfect length on you and measure the inseam. Or if you have some that are too short, measure and add a inch or so to get what would be a better length for you.

Thanks! I'm 5'5 :)
I'll go measure 'em right now! I'm doing a little more back to school shopping so this will really come in handy. Thanks girl!!

Also I wanted to add that for inseams, there is often a length that you would want for heels and one without heels. Like, at 5'8" if I wanted to wear flats, I would need a 32 or 33 inseam, but with heels I need a 34 or 35.

Oh yeah, also wanted to add for inseam it's really not how tall you are, but how long your legs are...I am 5'3" and I usu. get a 32" inseam! :)

That's interesting . . . but I guess it depends on the look you're going for. I always want my pants to fall right behind my heel whether I'm in high heels or not, and so my length doesn't change one way or the other.

For me I like my pants to hit about a half inch to an inch above the ground no matter what shoes I'm wearing.
