I wear bangs in my hair. I grease my hair about 3 times a week, and I get bumps on my forehead. I don't like the way it looks. I'm always tempted to pick at them. If I don't pop them, they stay there for a while. I would like to know if anybody has a solution that would allow me to wear bangs without breaking out.

This is just my opinion... gosh I haven't worn bangs for years for that very same reason of breakouts. Maybe you could;

1- switch up your styles every once in a while to give the forehead/skin a break.

2- Grease your SCALP and not so much your HAIR and see how that works or not grease your hair as often

3- or be sure and clean/wash your forehead/face area morning and night.

What kind of hair style to you have or wear?

I grease my scalp every 3 days and wash my hair once a week. I usually wash my face twice a day if I don't fall asleep before I get to it. My hair style is usually just a ponytail with bangs. If not that, my hair is always out of my face except for the bangs.

Thanks for the response. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hmmmm... this is a hard one. I grease my scalp about every 3 days or so too... or as needed. My scalp sucks up moisture.

I guess my best thought would be to try to change up your style. I'm not sure how long/short your bangs are, but you could do a little part off centered or whatever you think looks best and comb it to the sides or put loose curls in the longer part of your hair and blend in the bangs.

This would at least get it off your forehead some days off the week.

Hi MissJ,
Girl I wear my bangs also but sort of swooped to the side, The key thing for me is to always keep my hair clean, whenever it touches my face, and when I'm in the house I keep my hair wrapped so it does not touch my face. But keep in mind that I have normal skin, if you have oily skin then, a bang is a big NO NO... Hope I was of some help

Miss J, if you grease your scalp your also lubricating your hair which is in your face which must be the reason you're breaking out. Especially if you're doing it every 3 days.. that's build up. If you "have" to grease your scalp trying washing 2x a week..

I know just what you mean. The thing that works for me, is if I have an oily forehead, face, etc., I use a dry paper towel, just dry, nothing on it, and I wipe it really hard. That works best for me, instead of running to wash it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the advice. Maybe my bangs can go without grease without falling out. I'd dread washing my hair twice a week because it takes 4 hours to dry!

I have similar problems when I decide to wear my bangs out and not smoothed in twith the rest of my length and I use the little portable zit medicine pads and swab the area under my bangs about 2 or 3 times a day to be safe.

Oh, that sounds cool! Hmm... Maybe I should have come to this board like a year ago. I have scars on my forehead now from all the break outs. The rest of my skin is flawless. Too bad for me. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Something that always worked for me when I had bangs was swiping my forehead with alcohol in the evening after I put up to go to bed. Alcohol is too harsh usually but if grease is breaking you out, alcohol cuts through grease like nobody's business!!!

I'd like to blame my breakouts on my hair stuff, but I know the real reason is that I only wash my face once a day, and I put my gunky hands on my face all the time. So I get a lot of stuff on my chin.
