In order to incorporate and be more mindful of the amount of fruits and veggies we eat a day please join this challenge.
Tips (please add your tips - hopefully it will help someone)
-always add fruit to cereal, its delish and good for you
- try having a plate of your favorite fruit for breakfast, it's filling and will brighten your day.
- incorporate fruit (fresh, dried or canned) into a salad. I love salads load with everything. I get a bite of something different with every mouth full.
-Try a new fruit and veggie a week. I bet you'll find something you never thought you would like.
- keep cleaned fruit and veggies such as carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, etc in bowls in you refrigerator. It'll make it easier for you to pick that over something else.
- what I do in my house...........while I'm preparing diner I set out a bowl of whatever on the kitchen table for my family to snack on before diner. Over the weekend a bowl of something stays out on the table for us to snack on.
- always serve a fruit or veggie with every meal. I have made it a habit to serve 2 veggies with every meal, in order to stretch the meal plus it's good for us. Lately it's been 3 veggies. My children can choose 2 of those 3 veggies to go with their meal, (most times it's not a choice since I make everyone plate).
- season your veggies well, you're more likely to eat something that taste great.

I'll join in. The only, only, only way I'm able to eat as much fruit as I do is because I make smoothies everyday. Without my Magic Bullet, I know that I would not be eating any fruit.
Whenever the supermarket has sales on fruits like strawberries, blueberries, mango, I stock up, rinse, chop and freeze the fruit. I do the same with bananas, keep them frozen and chopped in freezer bags. Also Goya has cheap packets of frozen fruit, I like the pineapple, mango, and passionfruit.
It seems hard to eat 5 a day, especially when you consider how easy it is to go an entire day, and realize that you have not eaten any plant life!
I have a much harder time eating veggies though, I need to work on this.

Next week I'm starting back on my beans. I love beans. I lost everything I had in my refrigerator freezer when the power was off. But I'll be loading up today.:yay:
Count me in, too!

Add me to the list. I’m really good with fruit but I fall way behind with vegetables. I’ve tried the other fruit and veggie challenge and when the challenge was over so was my new eating habit. This time I will do a life eating challenge.
One thing I do is to eat a piece of fruits after a meal whenever I have a taste for something sweet. This stops me from eating the wrong kind of sweets.
Also, in the morning I make my own fruity yogurt. I'll take 1/2 cup of plain low-fat yogurt, about 1/4 cup of blueberries and a Tbsp of honey. :lick: My AM treat.

I'm in! Thanks for starting this challenge. The fruits are easy for me, it's the veggies that are a challenge. It's not that I don't like them I've just gotten use to unhealthy eating and forget to incorporate them. With the when the weather gets warm I crave fruits more. I have some carrots, lettuce, and oranges in my refrigerator. I'm going to make it into a salad. My kids would love carrots with a tad bit of ranch.

Yep, smoothies count. I need to get me a juicer, maybe I can mention that to DH as a mother's day gift.

Breakfast for me is Blueberries (in my yogurt) and an apple.
Lunch will be a Spinach Salad with Tomato, shredded carrots, sunflower seeds, raisins & very little dressing.
Dinnier today will be grilled salmon, mixed vegetables, broccoli and an apple.
Wow! I plan my day just by thinking of what veggies I'm gonna have. Thanks D!
Dlewis do you mind sharing your broccoli recipe? Vegetables to me are cooked with just water and the strange thing about this is I like them like that except for broccoli, spinach and cabbage. I love seasoned food and can't undertand why I like my veggie like this but hey I do.
