I am trying to stay away from the scale. As w/ food apparently I am addicted to the scale. I know its not good to look at the number on a scale and I should go by the way I feel. But it is soooo tempting. I know I am doing the right thing to lose this weight but my obsession causes me emotional baggage during the journey.
Then I look to the scale to console me....yea I know:nono:
Well I must say my clothes are fitting a lot better. I have on a 12 now, but not as comfortable as I'd like. I am still friends w/ my 14's.:wallbash:
Anyway how many of you ladies weigh yourself A LOT!

Daily right now, because I'm trying to lose weight, and I'm curious to see the changes - I'm weightlifting as well, so I'm not really attached to the number - I know it's not going to perfectly reflect my journey, cuz muscle weighs more than fat (by volume), etc, etc.
Once I'm in a maintain mode, it'll most likely be weekly - but I'd rather have a perfectly fitting dress to judge by instead of the scale, since weight does fluctuate from day to day and week to week.
I've never been particularity attached to the numbers on the scale, though, so I can weigh myself very frequently without getting neurotic about it. :lachen:

Weekly, when I didn't bother I gained about 30lbs.

I get weighed when I go for my physical and pap smear. If I weigh myself at home, it's only to determine the weight of my kitties. They won't sit still on the scale so I have to get on it with them in my arms then weigh myself w/o them and find the difference. Otherwise the scale might as well not exist for me.

Wow! Thats great! but, smh. Not sure if I could ever get to that place. I hope so if I know I'm cured of this battle...i dunno

:lachen:I can understand that. Especially the bold. I used to constantly weigh myself daily. When I stopped is when I let myself get out of check. So I think I might continue to do this for a while just so I can make sure I'm "losing" as I should.
Once a week.
I think this is reasonable:yep:
Daily but I'm trying to stop.
Does it bother you? I don't plan to stop, it keeps my regulated :lachen:

At the bolded: Thats the key there. As long as you don't attach yourself to the number. To me it will be a reminder of my hard work.:yep:

The interesting thing is that - for me, they often don't reflect reality, so it's easier for me to dismiss them. I'm 20 pounds heavier than my adult lightest, right now, but I'm significantly smaller than I was then. Weightlifting rules.

About 10 years ago I was a slave to the scale.
If I gained a few pounds it affected my whole day. Sometimes I'd weigh myself twice a day, it was awful.
Now, I weigh myself twice a year. I can tell by my clothing if my weight is flucuating and I will cut back on eating, eat healthier or step up the exercise.
Being attached to a certain number on the scale is damaging psychologically, and I won't be a slave to the numbers again.

Not really. But weight has never been something I focus on. I worry more about looking and feeling good, and right now I don't. My clothes are tighter than I'd like and don't really fit the way they used to. I refuse to shop for better fitting clothes coz I know I ought to be working out and losing inches. I focus more on how my clothes fit and how my body looks. The info I get from the scale when weighing my kitties isn't good news but I have a knack of paying it no mind. I know that when I wore a size 6 and it fitted after years of wearing 14/16 (many years ago), I was so thrilled by how I LOOKED and couldn't tell you anything about how much I weighed. So I've never seen any reason to be attentive to weight when my bottom line is that I look and feel hawt.

I used to say the same thing. And apparently I got to a place of acceptance of how I "looked". I gained my weight back and still realized how I looked but didn't weigh. Once I seen I was gaining it back I didn't bother weighing because I knew what was going on.
Whereas before when I weighed obsessively, ok well maybe not to that extreme, but daily I kept myself in check. I have to weigh maybe not for the number or to gauge my mood, but to know my weight is matching my efforts. Its a twisted cycle I know.

See, what the scale does for others is what not looking good in clothes or them not fitting right does for me. Or not liking the shapeless thing that stares back at me from my mirror when I'm in my under garments. That's because when I was the size I was in that leotard y'all know, I was a size 4 and weighed 115. I had weighed less than that before but didn't look as good as I did then nor was I as toned and happy with my body. So if I were going by the scale, I'd have never gotten to the way I was. However, looking in the mirror and seeing the V morph into an X, and feeling my clothes fit better, was motivation enough for me. IMO a scale is so vague. What good will it be if I weigh 100 lbs and look like oblong or wider than I like?
And I can't let myself go, coz I'm not shopping for anything bigger than what I have. And in the past, when I've forced my butt into jeans and they've ripped from the strain (Yes Denim Levi jeans ripped), trust me, I get with the program with a quickness.

I like to do it weekly and sometimes every two weeks. I prefer going by the mirror and how my clothes fit. I work out pretty regular so I can tell by my clothes. Jeans are always a truth serum too.
