Hey Ladies,

I usually dont come over to this side. Not that I have anything against this side its just that I have no skills and I have seen some mad, crazy skills up in here.

I have a question or two. I live in the middle of nowhere and yet we have a MAC area in one of the malls here. Can some one suggest what should I start out with.

Oh and second what brushes should I have as a beginner?

Thanks

Do you plan to go all out and buy MAC brushes from the outset or do you want to ease into it with some lower priced brushes?

Do you like bright colors or neutrals?

Do you need/plan to wear foundation or do you need less coverage for your skin?

How "made up" do you want to be?

Definitely check out some YouTube videos too.

for beginners
I like
109
187
213
224
229

maybe you dont need the 109 but if you wanna use powder and or blush you would need two different brushes so its up to you if you will be using those products. If your just using foundation or powder then I would skip the 109 and go straight for the 187. I have a small eye space so the 213 does a good job for me. I would say get teh 224 if you have a large eye space you can use it for a crease or to highlight which is what I use it for since I cant use it for my crease. I love the 229 use it to fill in those brows and or eyeliner for liquid or gel eyemakeup also a multipurpose brush as well

For a beginner I would suggest:
brushes for eyes: 217 and 239 for shadows
brush for face: 109 which is good for powder, blush, and contouring.

If you're ready to jump into MAC brushes, I'd second the OP above, but if not check out Sonia Kashuk at Target, and Essence of Beauty at CVS.
As far as makeup, the questions that Dayjoy has are definitely what you need to ask yourself before you buy anything and I also recommend YOUTUBE!

Yeah I would go for the drugstore brand brushes (sonia kashuk is FANTASTIC!), but like your hair do research first. Just because eveybody and their momma uses MAC doesn't mean you have to. I personally for a beginner would get a neutral pallette from coastal scents and some brushes from there as well. You also NEED a primer for your eyes at least. I still love Urban Decay primer potion.

Foundation I would go cheaper and try of revlon colorstay.

oh yeah YOUTUBE

I see she lives in Guam. We need to find out what drug stores are in her area.

I have no drug stores here just a Base Exchange (a mini mall) a Navy Exchange oh and a Kmart.

We have a MAC counter in a small mall downtown but that is about it.

When I am at work I would love to coordinate face with outfit but not Tammy Faye :lachen:. On the weekends I would go for a more neutral unless I am going out of course.
