View Full Version : IS THERE REALLY SUCH A THING AS AN ANTI-SHINE PRODUCT?

*****Sighs*****
I can't seem to find anything that works.

By mid day my face is as slick as can be.

So far I have tried MUFE All Mat and Smashbox Anti-shine.
Smashbox came close and All Mat was a complete no no.

The other thing that is driving me crazy is that my foundation transfers like crazy, to a point that I am scared to hug people because the foundation rubs off into their cloths:nono: Is there a way to stop this?

BTW, I use MUFE HD foundation and Duo Mat.

I think I will get the HD powder as well.

Any suggestions for the above issues?

TIA

My godsend solution is MAC Prep & Prime - the one with SPF 50. There are 2 different prep & primes, and the other one doesn't work as well for me.

With the prep & prime I'm shine-free all day and my make up looks like I just applied it!
My mother is bringing a couple of bottles from the USA next week :D

I think it's widely available in large drugstores. They are about £5 in england.

I thought NOTHING would work for me, but I just purchased MAC Prep & Prime yesterday and I wore my make-up through the night...even at a party that lasted all night! Even through some sweat and heat, my make-up stayed virtually flawless. The Smashbox Photo Finish Primer is also great. I asked the MAC lady how to use both. She said do the following:

1. Wash face
2. Add toner
3. Add moisturizer
4. Add Smashbox Primer
5. UDPP Primer at the eyebrows
6. Add MAC Prep & Prime powder
7. Apply foundation
8. Apply eye make-up
9. Bronze if you want

I believe it retails for as little as $3.99 in some places?

I used to think that I would just have to be shiny my whole life, and I actively shellacked my face with powders and potions to try to get it under control, but all that did was break me out.

I don't wear foundation. In the morning I use witch hazel and a cotton ball to tone and then add a dab of honey (in the Bear, I hear organic is better, but this was more readily available when I decided to try it) to the palm of my hand, and then a pea-sized amount of my moisturizer (neutrogena dry-touch sunblock).

after a minute or so I do a dusting of translucent powder (I'm currently using the one from ELF cosmetics $3.00) and that's it. Shine free for the rest of the day. If I get sweaty, I can blot with a tissue and once I cool down my skin goes back to matte. :yep: Because honey is anti-bacterial it's been keeping my skin clear also.

That's interesting. Does it go on sticky or what? Its so thick, how do you spread it?

You don't attract bees and other insects, do you? :look:

It's just a tiny bit of honey, maybe 1/4 to 1/2 of the amount of moisturizer I'm using. I rub them together in my palms to mix the two and then it goes on smooth. If I use too much, it will be sticky, but once you settle on an amount it's not sticky at all. Kind of like when you mix it with conditioner..it rinses out easily and doesn't feel sticky at all.

I haven't noticed an increase in insect activity though.:lachen:

MAC prep and prime spf 50 works for me.I had a sample and it seemed ok, just ok! I tried to get another sample just to be sure but the MUA had a bit of attitude and she said this will make me have a white film on my face due to my skin being dark:rolleyes:
