the no sugar challenge starts april 15th and ends may 15th.
april 15th is when i'll begin this challenge like most of my diet and exercises since i'm away from home right now.
i was wondering if i'm the only one who wants to kick sugar to the curb this year. i'm not talking about natural sugar found in fruits but added sugar(s). white, brown, molasses, synthetic, and/or honey. yes honey. and sweetened foods that you highly consume.
i will not add sugar to my foods and i'm going to commit to staying away from juice and bread.
although this info is a diabetic ? that was asked, it benefits everyone when it comes to it's overall affect. honey is sweeter than sugar...
the skinny on honey is:
Generally, there's no advantage to substituting honey for sugar in a diabetes eating plan. Both honey and sugar will affect your blood sugar level.
Honey is sweeter than granulated sugar, so you might use a smaller amount of honey for sugar in some recipes. But honey actually has slightly more carbohydrates and more calories per teaspoon than does granulated sugar — so any calories and carbohydrates you save will be nominal.
If you prefer the taste of honey, go ahead and use it — but only in moderation. Be sure to count the carbohydrates in honey as part of your diabetes eating plan.

Here and present. I have given up all things white. Then I slipped back into Sea salt and now raw sugar. Tomorrow I will be fasting but for veggies, fruit and water.

I really need this. I was JUST griping to my dh about my recent binge on pecan candy and caramel/pecan turtles the last few days. The sugar crave has been the worst ever this period!! I will too stay away from "all things white", I had already changed my breads and most starches, but the "cheat days" of ice cream and brownies are KILLING ME. However, I can't afford to wait until April 15th because I feel so guilty after what I ate today. I will start tomorrow and keep you posted on my progress.

if anyone needs to start sooner, that's cool. i'm just giving my self time to transition to a no sugar diet, especially juice. today i had a grape crush soda and it was sooooo strong to me. not to mention the 83g sugar. i'm in dire need of plain water.

I've done the stop eating and drinking sugar thing, and I lost about 15 pounds. It works but it's difficult if you have a lot of favorite sweets that you like to eat or drink.
I'm in. After you've done it once, it gets easier to do it again.

today i've resisted :perplexed:look: as with yesterday. i went to the store and i was sooooooo tempted to get something sweet. instead, i've opted for strawberries. i've guess you can say, this is a starting point for me. although april is fast approaching, i'm just realizing that this is a real challenge for me but if i stay focus i know i can do it.

I'm going to join this challenge because i really need to give up cokes. This is the only habit i can't break. I don't eat many candies and other sweets so if i can only kick this habit.

I was just thinking I really need to get a grip on my sugar. I know it's going to be hard. Maybe having some LHCF support will help.
Count me in. I started tracking my daily sugar and carb intake last week after reading the info from Jorge Cruise. It wasn't too hard and it drastically decreased my appetite.

If you're having trouble with sugar cravings you could try taking calcium supplement tablets. They reduce my craving for chocolate to zero.

How long is this challenge. I'm a BREAD addict, but I really need to start curbing my sweets. So I'm definitely interested....
