Concerning the current political and economic events in the world today, is anybody suspicious how we are predicted to come out of this "recession" so quickly, within a year? It just seems that something is at play, for years now with all the business mergers and whatnot, to create one type of government/dictatorship. All the govt. deregulation of securities, worldwide, I suspect not just in the U.S. Something is not right. I have friends from all walks of life, some christian, some Jewish, some New Age, some traditional-their particular culture...and they all say the same thing lol. They are seeing this shift in society and governernment...this ugly shift towards control by just a few. We know we are so linked through out economies, much more now than ever before. Any thoughts RELIGIOUS MINDED THOUGHTS on this? Back it up by scripture, please.
Edited: to reflect the nature of my query. In fact, "one world govt." evokes a religious discussion to me since this term was often coined in the religious community.

Have you watched "The Obama Deception" film? Vevster posted a link to the film: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7886780711843120756
Though some of what was said was over the top, some really really good points were brought up. The whole World Government idea and the steps being taken to get to that is explained.
I recommend watching this. Eat the meat and spit out the bones. :yep:

I just passed by that now. I'm wondering from a religious perspective, tho.

I was wondering how long it would be before this one would pop up. This fear/rumor of one world government has been around the block and back for as long as I've been interested in politics and that ain't a short time!
Power has been concentrated in the hands of the few for a long, long time. We have also been quite interconnected for a quite some time...which is why this crisis is effecting every corner of the globe. I think the future is now on this one.
I personally don't believe in the book of revelations or the apocalypse....so I'll leave it to others to determine whether we're in the end of days or not...but here's an interesting little tidbit...some new agey types are saying that the Mayan calendar ends in 2012 and that means the end of the world (as we know it) is near...there are tons of books out about it and I think a movie in the works. So if you're of the "the sky is falling" variety here's another source that's saying something similar.

I don't know why but all this stuff is just interesting! The Mayan calendar, prophecies/predictions, etc. I just find fascinating.
There's a Catholic theologian (I forget his name) who accurately predicted that the next pope after John Paul II would take the name Benedict XVI. This same theologian claims that the events foretold in the Garabandal apparitions would start this year, Good Friday, April 10--with something called "The Warning."
Very interesting...:drunk:

This is a loaded question. For now, I encourage you to study both Daniel and Revelation in the Scriptures because the two go hand in hand when it comes to understanding such events. I do agree these events are signs of the times...:yep:

Any thoughts RELIGIOUS MINDED THOUGHTS on this? Back it up by scripture, please.
OP, it seems you want to have a scripture-only based discussion (meaning, only people who believe in the infallibilty of the Bible should participate). Am I reading it wrong? You may want to PM the mods to move this to the Christian Forum where you can debate this political issue from a scripture-only viewpoint.
I've seen people get very offended outside of the Christian Forum when the Bible is discussed from a different perspective than total acceptance of it as dogma. Wouldn't want that to happen to you. And as much as I'd like to debate it, this topic ("religious minded thoughts" on world government/dictatorship) is probably not suitable for the Political Forum anyway...
Mods, what say ye?

Agreed. It began in the Christian forum. Not sure why it was moved in the first place. Hmmmm...

Bottom line: We don't know the time, place, or year that Jesus is coming back. I think a lot of the doom and gloom and apocalyptic speculation is to stoke fear in the hearts and minds of people. What ever happened to faith, people? I swear, Americans seems to be getting more and more timid and cowardly. This is not the true spirit of this country. We used to be a resilient people. What has happened to our faith?

Agreed. However, I personally believe that the Scriptures to give us very pertinent information on the matter. :yep:

Yes, I moved it.
Prior to your edit, you had no mention of discussing this from a religious perspective.
Moved back to the Christian Forum.

What I do in my own personal life. When it comes to what is going on in the World and then Apply it to the Bible, when my Pastor speaks of what the people of 2000+ years ago I see and apply to today's time b/c history always has a way of repeating itself.
Yes, this planet is changing in which way I cannot say. All, I can honestly do is turn off the T.V. and just apply, and claim God's Promises over my life, family, and friends. I do not get caught up in fear b/c fear is not from or of God. Even though, I do not see God's Promises on the spot I still claim b/c It is on it's way. However, satan is doing his hardest against the people of this world it saddens me as well, b/c IMHO if they Knew about God and his Power then some will be hear with us today. The devil is very busy against God's childern and no matter what happens truly apply, trust and Keep God First in your lives, b/c I truly feel when it is all said and done the ones who Trust the Lord will endure.
Yes, God is very Angry at America right now just look at the way this country used to be and When this country takes "God" "Our Lord Jesus Christ" out of this country which people try to do every day. It is then we God's Childern stand up and say No! Speak up and speak out no matter what.
I saw this flim and I am avid Listener of Alex Jones I collect ALL of his Documentires, called in on his talk show and come to the conclusion " That What is the Solution we know the Problems" So what is the solution? So, CCD a member here got me thinking "we are the solutions" by just speaking up and out about what is going on.

IDK you guys. I have faith in God, and I believe he will take care of me. But that does not mean that Obama is deceiving us or that the world isn't going to get worse. Politics are super jacked up right now. So is the music industry that controls so much of today. Just saying...

Daniel and Revelations are allegorical...that's the problem.
