....anybody get their (or ever had their) legs waxed? What was your experience? I'm sure it hurts...but did you have any irritations? Break outs? Rashes, etc?

I ask because I usually shave. But, I tell you no lie, the hairs grow back that SAME DAY! Stubble City! (wish the hair on my head had the same luck...I digress)

I have a trip to Vegas next week and don't want to be bothered with shaving 2x daily!!!

(Also, if you know of a good waxer near E. 50th Street, let a sista know! I'll be in the area Mon-Tues for work)

TIA

I have and yet it hurt like heck but I didn't break out with any rashes or anything like that and I have pretty sensitive skin. I do believe its about the type of wax they use.

But I too am usually a shaver and I have to admit that after waxing it took it like a week or two for me before it really started to come back. So for me it was worth it at the time because I was out on holiday.

I guess it depends on each individual person though. HTH!

No, it didn't hurt. I took an aspirin and had a sip of wine before hand which helped. It does look better than a shave but I'm too lazy and cheap to do it very often. That was a few years ago that I had it done and actually it helped reduce the # of ingrown hairs. I don't even get those anymore

Waxing is good if you can afford it. I don't think it hurts, specifically if you don't have a lot of leg hair to befin with.

It leaves your legs soft and smooth.

Thanks, Ladies! I will give it a try...I don't want the hassle of shaving every day while on vacation!

I tried it and the first time hurt like nobodys business. The other times were okay...

The only thing i didnt like about it: Your hair grows in cycles. Some hair grows faster than others. Long story short i had to wait long enough for enough hairs to be present to wax again because if u do it to soon, the other hairs catching up will start to come up shortly after you wax :nono: ...i didnt like that cuz i like to be smooth 24/7. I eventually broke down and ended up shaving.

ETA: I wax my underarms religiously. totally worth it :yep:

I get a half-leg wax (knees and below) and love it. Haven't shaved in 3-4 years. I've been doing it so long that my hair grows in much thinner and it doesn't hurt. I also wax my underarms myself - it's very easy. The legs I have to get done.

i did it once and hated the pain but loved the results and my skin was silky smooth even when the hair was growing back.

I get my legs waxed a few times a year (sometimes I just shaved). It doesn't really hurt (just an occassional sting), especially if the waxer is skilled and moves quickly. The wax shouldn't be too hot and it's easier if they spread it thin.

Thanks for the replies! I'll be in NYC next mon/tues and will try out this salon: http://www.dyannaspa.com/

They have good reviews and their prices are very reasonable.

Leg waxing for spring/summer is a must for me. I go to the Elizabeth Arden Red Door salon on Fifth Avenue (and 54th, I think). Sofia is wonderful (eastern european lady) and very thorough. She waxes my full legs, toes, bikini area, lower tummy/navel area and bwt the buttcheeks. I think it's like $100/$125 bucks but totally worth it and the spa is very nice. I'm going tomorrow and will be smooth until June.
