This is something I am definitely doing more often, especially since I'm really strict about how much I spend on things like beauty.
MAC and Sephora have generous return policies, and drugstores are now letting you return cosmetics that you've used too.
I feel like there is no sense to let things sit at the bottom of the drawer and rot because its the wrong color. I only want to invest my money in cosmetics that I will be using on a regular basis.
Do you utilize your store's return policy?

Yep..I'm about to return my Revlon foundation. I have a Mac NW 45 foundation, and pressed powder that I bought from Macys back in December. I don't have the receipt. Is it too late to return those? Not sure what the return policy is.

heck yeah - i just returned some $40 foundation to sephora because, even though i carefully did my research before purchasing it, it accentuated the dry patches on my face. it makes no sense for me to keep a product that doesn't work for me. i do generally ask for samples though so that i can avoid returning at all costs.
if you make a habit to try products as samples then you won't have to return as often. i also returned some milani lip gloss back to walgreens a few days ago because the color and texture was just awful.

If needed, I sure will. I usually sample first though.

Absolutely! If I can take something back, I WILL! See, whats the point in keeping something you WON'T use or that breaks you out, whatever... you won't be using it, it's taking up space that I could be using for something else... if I don't give it to my sister I'm getting my money back fa sho!

Ediese: just take it back and tell em you lost the receipt. No need to give extra information that'll just hurt your quest! If they take returns, then that's all they need to know, it's a return.

I wonder if I could do this and just get store credit and get something else

Yep you can.
And I definitely use store return policies. Infamous among my friends for it lol.
But starting to think harder about what I buy so that I'm not so wasteful. And getting samples!

You most likely will be able to get store credit.
