View Full Version : Help! I Have A Sinus Infection

I thought I had an ear infection because of the throbbing pain in my left ear. I went to my ear dr, and he told me that I have an infection in my nose.

He put me on antibiotics, and told me that since I have chest congestion that I also have asthma. I've never had a breathing problem before. I've had congestion so many times in my life, and then it goes away. But it never caused me to have asthma. Isn't that something that should be diagnosed with a breathing test?

I'm hoping that someone can chime in on what their experience with a sinus infection was; and how long it took to go away. I know everyone experience is and will be different, but I would like some insight.

I finally used my facial steamer for my sinuses, and they feel a bit better. I wonder how long I should use it.

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

Lots of citrus fruit. I got one in Belgium and couldn't go to the doctor. That zapped it in a few days. And, no dairy at all, none.

No dairy? Why not? I had a cup of milk yesterday, I had no clue. I won't drink it again.

Thanks Sunshine. :yep:

So sorry you're suffering with this. Every time the seasons change I have sinus issues so I feel your pain.

If you're OTC type of girl, I use Benadryl sinus/allergy or Sudafed. Really helps me get some rest when I've been sleep deprived because I can't breathe for the congestion.

If you're a naturalist, Braggs ACV in hot water with honey works like a charm. I keep it in my desk drawer and at home. At night my humidifier is a big help (since I can't stand in a steamy shower all night :spinning:).

Also, saline solution is helpful for when you stuffy but nothing comes out when you try to blow. And stops the nose bleeds induced by dry nasal passages.

Dairy increases the mucus in your passages exponentially. Makes a bad situation much worse. Leave it alone 'til you get cleared up.

Well, I don't know which route I'll be taking because this is my first nasal infection. I've never had this problem before. The most I've had was post nasal drip. I didn't start having nasal problems till I went to the doctor. I can now breathe through my nose, and I have these mucus sores; like buggars, but much harder and painful to remove. I've been leaving them alone for the most part, once I did the steam, it came out pretty easy on it's own.

I don't like OTC products, and I have the ACV; so I think I'm going to use that. How much ACV should I add to the water?

Oh, and I'll be setting up my humidifier.

Thanks alot. :yep:

Oh, ok. I see...I will certainly leave it alone.

Thanks again.

(((HUGS))) to you sending you some healing b/c I just got over upper resp. I know how you feel. Get a lot of rest and take all of your antiboitics and drink plenty of water to flush out your system.

Also, if you can stand it, get a neti pot to wash out your nose. You can get them at Walgreens and regular stores these days.

Aww, thanks HF, you always have my back.:lachen:

Yes, I've been getting a lot of rest, but it started to depress me. So I had to start cleaning my house, I just couldn't "chill" anymore. I will get back to resting again, because I can't do too much for too long even if I wanted to. But I feel better emotionally just doing something. And just when I started working out, this happens! :wallbash:

I've been drinking a lot of water because the antiobiotics has been stopping me up.:lachen:I've also been drinking a laxative tea, I hope that that's not a problem, because that's the only way I'll be regular. I'm used to being regular.

Also, what problems did you have with an upper resp? What is the difference b/w that and what I have?

What is a neti pot? My steamer isn't good enough?

1-2 tsps Braggs (you want the ACV with the "mother" in it, not that clear ACV like Heinz)

1-2 tsp natural sweetener (ala honey, 100% maple syrup, blackstrap molasses, or 4 drops stevia

8 oz. warm water

(I drink it like tea and put a little extra honey in it.)

Do a google search on neti pot for more info, but basically it is a little pot that runs saline water through your nasal cavities to wash out bacteria, viruses, sludge, etc.

Yes, I have the ACV with the mother in it. I will make it this afternoon.

Thanks, Info.

Yeah, I heard about that.

I can tell I'm getting better so I don't think it's gonna go to my head.
