Makeup Primer?

Does anyone know where I can purchase a good makeup primer? Has anyone had success with one? I dont have oily skin, its more combination and sometimes even dry, but when I wear makeup, a few hours later it looks oily. I live in FL and its hot and humid, this is the main reason.

I wear mac studiofix and u arent supposed to reapply it once applied. I tried the blot power but I think it made me look ashy, then I broke it. Any other suggestions for this problem?

i love ellen lange's primer called suede. it is the best makeup primer ever. u can find it at ulta. there is a brand new ulta in orlando, but u can go to ellenlange.com. it cost around 30 bucks.

I have combination skin with very, very few breakouts. I can tell you that the one by Fashion Fair is useless! The vit C. primer by Avon is pretty good (for the price).

A tip I learned from the girls over at MakeUpAlley is to apply Milk Of Magnesia with a cotton ball before your makeup. I never triedthis myself b/c I have dry skin but I have passed it on to some friends and they really like this cheap fix.
One of my co-workers also told me she likes the primer by NARS.

Smash Box has a pretty good primer. It's called Photo Finish.

yes Milk Of magnesia is for your stomach. I do not think it stinks but you may think differently.

makeupalley.com they mainly discuss makeup but they also have a hair board, a skin board and a fashion board where they list discount codes for differents online stores. It's a great website but we (us sistas) make up very little of the population over there. The skincare gals are extremely knowdgeable. Some are estheticians or in dermatology school.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the primer used for? Is it to make your makeup go on more smoothly and evenly??

inky, yes from what Ive read about them, they make it go on smoother and stay on longer without shine. I cant find them in any low end stores(walmart,etc) so Im assuming u have to get them in high end retail or ulta,etc.

I've used one by English Ideas (I think that's the name) and it makes your skin feel like silk and makeup just glides on. It's pricey but a little goes a long way. Also, Benefit cosmetics has something called Dr Feelgood that is just awesome! It goes on so smooth. Both of these would be at department stores like Dillards or something and Benefit has a website (benefitcosmetics.com i think)

The smashbox primer is really good! And so is the primer from Philosophy, although I can't remember the name. I think both are silicone based which makes make-up smooth right on.

I use one by Iman. I got it from Ulta.
