and I learned it from white people. Okay, ladies I have the solution and the great part about this is that you don't have to spend $$$ to do it. But, it may be a little out there for you all but here it is........................it's tanning. That's right tanning. This is how i found out. I work in a tanning salon where white people come to get darker. Well, I noticed that many of these people have great skin (weird I know). It is clear and smooth. And this is just not a few. This is most of the people who come in well besides the ones who have fried themselves to death. Anyways, many of the young girls who come in wear super short shorts that many black girls couldn't wear with out showing a couple of stretch marks. So we just got a new manager and she was telling me about this black guy who use to come into her old salon to even out his skin tone and get rid of his stretch marks. Okay, so I got into one. I had done it like 4 times and my boyfriend made a comment to me about how much lighter they are. Okay, this is how i believe it works. Now a tan will really only last you about a week if you don't expose yourself to anymore sun. A tan is really a slight injury to your skin so in about a weeks time your skin produces healthy skin cells to replace the injured ones. Leaving you with healthy skin without stretch marks. Well, I am getting tired of typing. If anyone wants more info I will happily reply. Oh yeah, I just wanted to add that one lady I work with tanning to fry off break-outs.

I'd be embarassed as hell to go get a tan. I don't want all those white people looking at me like I'm http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/nuts.gif http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Yeah, but if I find a bunch of people to go in the future, we can all go, and when they look at us, we'll be like "WHAT?!?" "You want a piece of me?!?" http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'm not sure about the stretch marks, but the comment you made about the breakouts is absolutely true. Whenever I've been lying on the beach in Florida for a few days, when I come home my skin couldn't be clearer.

okay this had me rollin'. It reminded me of that in living color sketch with tommy davidson and the white girl was acting like she was one of those nature show hosts where they follow strange animals around. Except this time it wasn't an animal it was a gangsta and they were talking about his sleeping habits (all day) and eating habits (jolly ranchers) http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/lachen70.gif http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/lachen70.gif

Great observation Britt http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. BUT These people who are frequent tanners will have skin that looks worse than stretch marks in the next ten years or so. There is a frequent shopper at my store who tans a lot, and let me tell you, shes paying the ultimate price. Shes 34 (I know becasue I look at her DL when she pays by check for her clothes) and she already has deep embedded lines in her face and leathery looking skin. She looks about 15 years older than what she does http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/ohwell.gif And she still tans. I think its addicting http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif But yeah Ill choose stretch marks over leathery wrinkly skin anyday. It may not affect us as much ladies becasue we're black, but be careful if you try this. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

the rays from the booths may actually make the spots even darker. Dont know if this is for sure though. I only say this becasue I heard that if you have acne scars on your face or something, they can get darker from the sun rays which is why they tell you to wear sunblock to avoid this.

hmm... I just thought of something now. The reason why white chicks might have less stretch mark problems than black ones ** could be due to black women having more hips to fill out during development. As you know, stretch marks are caused by sudden increase or decrease in the amount of stretching the body has to do. So developmental areas, as well as losing or gaining weight suddenly typically cause stretch marks. The theory sounds like your friend might be up to something, but then again, maybe not. Does she know people who actually had stretch marks cleared up after tanning?
**No scientific data, or anything. Just going by what to me is common knowledge that Black women tend to have more hips, etc than white.

tanning makes mosquito scars go away for me. Also don't forget that because we are darker, it doesn't take as much time to "tan" as white people do. Whenever I have a mosquito scar on my legs(like when I return from the dominican republic), I'll spend 10- 15 minutes out in the sun with sunblock, once or twice a week, in a month or so the scars have lightened up considerably. You don't have to stay out there for hours. my roommate (who is white) is disgusted everytime I go out for 10-15 mins and come back in with tan lines!! http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif It would take her days of roasting! I tell her it's pay back for her wash and go hair!

with that 10-15 min routine for 1-2x weekly, how long did it take for the scars to be completely gone or unnoticeable??? weeks? months?

Also is this lying on a board under the sun, or just going about your business? If it's just doing your thing, I know many of us have spent plenty of time in the sun. Is the sunscreen a compulsory aspect? I dunno.... Let me know if you have any details.

doesnt matter, scars are scars, which was why i said that http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
anyway i also use AHA lotion on my legs to get rid of scars in the past. i would never consider tanning since skin cancer and melanoma run high in my family http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif White woman around the world probably wish this was true. I have seen many white women with the ugliest, most stretch-marked bellies in creation. My dear friend is one of them. After 2 back-to back babies, her body was destroyed and she had stretch marks just like any black woman except they were red. Not trying to sound insensitive, because I have some of my own(No kids, just from regular growing), but I can't imagine that white women don't get stretch marks just as bad as black women. I have seen too many that do, including some of my friends.
