I was practicing with my new mac pigment samples this evening because i REALLY want to use them, but do not want to go out in public until I get the hang of it. I'm getting much better with the blending, but not quite sure what to do about the fallout. I am using UDPP and a dry brush. should i dampen the brush the tiniest bit? learn to be neater? is fallout part of using pigments?

Ladies - advice PLEASE!

Two words-Mixing medium! You will have fallout with pigments, but a way to minimize it is to use mixing medium or even a saline solution on your brush and then tap into the pigments. And pat, dont swipe, especially your lid color. Also, do your eyes first, that way, you can clean up any fallout without messing up your foundation/concealer/powder.

i learned to dust on a white or lighter colored powder below your eyes...that way you can brush away the fallout when you are done. it was in one of kim kardashian's makeup vids.

Mixing medium -do you mean I could steal my daughter's contact solution? I do have Jane Iredale's Pommist Hydration Spray and there is saline solution in the other bathroom.

I can do eyes and then the rest of the face.

Powder to catch the fallout - the same as the one I wear or a differnet one?

^^^a different one, so you can see where it is when you're dusting it off. i have some mineral veil that i use sometimes, and a whole lot of powder foundation that's 2 shades too light.

Do you eyes before putting on foundation. You can remove any fallout with makeup remover and then put on the rest of your makeup. I got that tip from Iman's makeup book.

Another option is with your non dominant hand to hold a paper towel while you apply if you don't like the other options.

But I would use both of the suggestions by the pp's. I would use a mixing medium and pat and also under my eyes I apply my conceler first and then either use a loose blot powder or some other loose powder liberally so you can just sweep away. I myself like to do my eyes first and then its easier to clean up after.

Okay - brush dampened with mixing medium, powder under the eyes, and, easiest of all, do eyes and then do the rest of my makeup. I'm getting the learning curve and will try again later. I'm really grooving on the peaches and reds combinations, and of course, the purples, and gold mode is simple beautiful. I have one sample called genuine orange that I was playing with yesterday - it works better than my bobbi brown concealer at neutralizing my current allergy-eye dark circles.

Thanks ladies.

Nice! I use cheapo yellow concealer from Physicians formula and that helps a lot too. How are you using the orange? I have to admit, I'm a little scared of orange and pink eyeshadows.

These are great suggestions by the ladies. I do exactly what their saying. I use translucent powder under my eyes, then spray MAC Fix+ on my brush, pat on the pigment and go. I also apply my foundation last:grin:

Some people put a light dusting of powder underneath their eyes to catch fall out. After they are done with eyeshadow application they can just brush off the excess powder and eyeshadow.
I use MAC's 242 brush which is a flat brush to apply eyeshadow with a lot of fall out. I apply my primer first (Urban Decay primer potion or Too Faced) and then press the eyeshadow onto my lid instead of brushing it on.

Another suggestion, I found searching the internet, is to take a piece of regular scotch tape and gently touch it to the face where there is fall out.

Good luck.

I was really afraid of using color because I thought I would look like I'm trying to pretend like I'm not my age - you know what I mean - those ladies of a certain age who dress and wear makeup like they're still teenagers and end up only looking ridiculous? But I bought samples and am experimenting. Some colors look really good. Some oranges, pinks, reds look very neutral on my skin - which was a surprise - and some of the other colors are going to be keepers as well. I'll play with the samples learning what colors I like and how to use the pigments - and the samples are plenty large enough for that and more - and then I can decide which ones I want to buy. Take a look at www.thebodyneeds.com (http://www.thebodyneeds.com) and www.beautyfromtheearth.com (http://www.beautyfromtheearth.com) - and be brave - you won't regret it.

The weather has turned warm here, so I had to get my bareroot roses in the ground or face gardening catastrophe, but I will be playing more in the coming days. I did go to the store and bought a cheap face powder - it had better not make me itch - and will try the powder trick as well as the patting and the dampened brush. I'm going all out to see how this will work.

You ladies are the best - I'll be a makeup diva in no time  If I can't post pics of my makeup, I can at least post pics of my new garden.:yep:
