View Full Version : workout clothes...which ones do you buy?
I'm trying to update my workout clothes and I'm having a hard time ones that fit well, last a long time and are affordable?
I especially have problems find pants that don't turn into high water pants after one wash. Also, finding workout clothes that compliment your shape without being to revealing
Any suggestion?

I've found Champion and Northface brand clothes at Marshall's. The discounts are good but the selection varies across stores. Lucy.com has workout clothes that fit well and last and they run a lot of 50% off sales.

To avoid shrinkage/fading in workout pants, I buy those which are polyester/spandex only, no cotton. I only buy black bootcut pants too. Running pants/tops would work but are more expensive due to the special wicking fabric. Danskin is a good brand which is sometimes available at Walmart. I collect cute tops from Marshalls.

I have also had this problem! Until I bought work out pants from Target. They sell them in Short, Regular and Tall. I'm only 5'7" but I bought the tall and it's a great fit! It's under $20 too, which is an added plus.

Champion from Target. I stock up whenever they go on sale. I just bought a bunch of knee length Champion pants for $4.74 each. I prefer the polyester/spandex pants. Those are clothes that get washed a lot and the cotton doesn't hold up well. I also check that section of the store whenever I'm in Tarjay.
Danskin bras from Walmart.
I buy shirts and jackets with wicking fabric from Walmart and the Champion brand from Target.
I keep on eye on the Champion section on the Target website & order when the Champion items drop to 75% off. I also go to women's clearance at Walmart and sort by price and order from there.

I buy a lot of my workout stuff from Target. It's pretty well made and has held up to being laundered a lot.:yep:

I love Victoria Secret Yoga pants, especially the fold-over ones.
I wear tops from many places. Target always has a great selection.

I stay away from Jockey -- the pants are all to short. Danskins aren't the best quality. Avia, Nike and Champion work. Mostly every thing else I've bought at Marshalls or TJ Max works (workout pants). My favorite are a pair of Champions. I got a sweet pair of woven stretch yoga/workout shorts at REI on sale and some loose long workout shorts both for maybe $10 each.

I agree with avoiding cotton as after repeated washings things lose shape and color, I stick with wicking fabrics. Walmart has sales on workout clothing from time to time, really affordable. Same with JC penney- they have St Johns Bay workout clothes that they have good sales on. Don't sleep on Nike.com or Adidas.com sale and clearance sections, you can find great separates there for large markdowns. I have some danskin, champion and russell athletics wear that I have used for years with no problem.
I just got a gang of workout clothing from 6pm.com - adidas capri bottoms, track pants, tank and long sleeve tees. all wicking fabric, nice designs and colors. At really high markdowns, too.

I buy mostly Under Armour gear from their outlet stores. They have great sales during the holidays. Those are the only sport bras, hoodies, compression shorts, and running pants that have lasted wash after wash after wash for me. I may find some Nike gear on sale at T.J. Maxx or Marshalls but I still haven't found gear that can compete w/ UA in a head to head multiple wash test.
I went to Target and bought some Champion fitted fitness pants in a Long...they're great! Thanks for the suggestions.
I'll buy some Under Armor next once they go on sale.

thanks for this thread ladies. The workout clothes that I have now I purchased from target(black pants and I love them). For tops, I am using old tee shirts and tried the one's at Target(made by Champion) and didn't not care for the fit. I had never thought to try TJMaxx or Marshall's for shirt but will do that this weekend.
