I've heard from many people that there is no way to get rid of the pouch you get after having a c-section b/c the muscles in that area were cut. Has anyone here successfully gotten rid of that pouch or made it significantly smaller? What type of work outs were you doing and how often? Even if you didn't have a c-secion and just had a pregnancy pouch, pls feel free to jump in...
I have that baby pouch, but my "baby" is almost 10 y/o :ohwell:... is it too late for me?

I haven't had a c-section, but I was under the impression that if you have a c-section your tummy muscles are "tightened" by the doctor, leaving you with a firmer abdominal wall. I mean, that's why all those celebrities opt for the c-section, so they can have their mini-tucks along the way... goes to show how little I know :)

I didn't develop the mommy pouch after DS. I did do crunches as soon as I healed though. Like 4 sets of 50 every day while he napped.

I have the C-section pouch... And I read in one of my pregnancy books that some doctors will stitch your muscles back together after your C-section while they are sewing you up.
When I have my next baby, I will be searching for a doctor to do this for me.:yep:
During pregnancy the abdominal muscles separate to make room for the baby, so it's extremely hard to get a flat toned stomach after that with just exercise. If the insurance is already covering a C-section, I may as well get a free tummy tuck in at the same time!

What you probably have is a diastasis, which is a separation of the transverse muscle, causing you to have what appears to be a pouch. What I would suggest is purchasing this book, "Lose your Mummy Tummy", by Julie Tupler. It also comes in a dvd. The exercise is supposed to be designed to reduce the separation of the two walls of the transverse muscle. You can also check out this website: www.maternalfitness.com .

I used to think that it was impossible to get rid of and thought it was exclusive to moms who've had c-sections but recently learned that a LOT of women who gain excessive weight during pregnancy get that apron hang going on especially after 2 or more pregnancies. I gained the proper amount of weight with my first daughter, had a c-section, and didn't get the apron. With my second daughter I gained over 60lbs:blush: and the apron appeared. Shortly before becoming pregnant with baby number 3 I had last over 40lbs and was 15-20lbs away from my goal and the belly was almost gone. It's back after a 74lb gain:blush: but shrinking monthly.
What it basically is is unfortunate fat redistribution. The ligaments weaken after multiple pregnancies and the skin quits early lol but by reducing your body fat and increasing lean body mass through weight training, you can have a flat tummy again.:yep: I think it has to do with weight training directly effecting the way the skin "hangs" on the body and the way the fat and skin attach to the muscle but don't quote me on that LOL! Here's a couple of ladies who got rid of the apron belly with ChaLean Extreme:

Wow, those are the kind of results I want, I hate my stomach, but then again it's my fault for waiting so long to do something about it... Right now I'm doing TJ mostly ab jam, cardio and turbo sculpt... Maybe I should upgrade to Chalean extreme :yep:???

yeah you are right about that. there are some docs out there that can do it all at the same time. they have c-sections early to avoid gaining anymore weight in the third trimester, for scheduling reasons, and avoid pushing. i know i didn't start getting stretch marks and getting bigger until my third trimester. i ended up getting a hernia from carry all of that weight and baby. i have to have surgery to get that part of my body back tight. i was told by three doctors.

i've had two c-sections.
after the second i gained more weight and a lot of it is on my tummy :look:
i have noticed when i diet and exercise my stomach becomes dramatically smaller. so i believe it can be done without surgery. :yep:
