Anyone tried this? It looks like it's a quality product (from what the infomercials say) and I think it's being sold on Sephora now, I'm thinking about purchasing it...

I've tried it. There's a Bare Minerals store here in LA. The product itself is okay. It has a lightness and airy feel to it that is refreshing. The first step is the foundation/powder. You brush that on first. Then if you want a blush/bronzed effect, you put the Warmth powder on your cheeks/highlight areas. Then you put on the mineral veil for that "glow". You have to be careful with the mineral veil because it is a white powder and too much is a real nono http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/naughty.gif It washes off easily and doesn't irriate my sensitive skin. This is perfect if you need mild coverage on a hot sticky day in the sun.

I don't think it is a good product for women of color, as a sole cosmetic. I had to test and mix a few colors before I got something that was really compatible. Their version of Tan was more like my definition of tanned caucasian, as opposed to ligher skinned women of color.

Another thing is that all products are loose powder and even in their sifter jars, they can be a bit messy. Heavens forbid if your jar of loose powder gets turned upside down with the cap on because you have to open it SLOWLY and it's a terror trying to sift the powder back down. Also, if you're going to be applying the foundation, warmth and mineral veil, I reccomend that you use 3 different brushes because the powder makes the brushes harder to clean and you can wind up with more of one thing on your face than desired.

The infomercial sells only 4 of the many foundation colors they have, but I think you can request other colors if you know the names of them. Also go to ebay to buy this because there are many sellers there who sell testers. In fact, I tested all the materials in the store and bought the full sized ones off ebay for less than half the price. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I had an issue with them as well. I went to the store and sat for an hour and a half while the poor girl tried to find a color that matched my skin. Finally she gave up and admitted that they didn't have a color dark enough for me which I thought was weird cause I am not that dark in the scheme of things (in other words there would be quite a few Black women who wouldn't be able to wear their stuff if they can't match me.)

It felt fine on my skin but they just didn't have much of a shade selection for Black women.

I tried this product a few months ago, and have to agree that it's not for Black women (especially darker skinned women).

How disappointing. You will think they would have at least most shades since Black women tend to spend the most on makeup, well any beauty product for that matter. It seems like a good product. Thank goodness I came here first.

I had the same experience with Bare Escentuals. I don't think they really have the color variety for Black women. I wish I had of known this before I spent over $50 on products..

A really good mineral foundation to try is by Jane Iredale. It's called the 'skin care cosmetic.'I have very sensitive, oily, acne prone skin and this has worked very well for me....

I had the same reservations around Bare Minerals -- I really wanted the product (have a hispanic friend who wears it), but didn't want to buy it without trying it on first, and there's no BE store near me.

So on a business trip earlier this month, I went to a store and this guy but the #8(darkest shade) on me. It was too dark, but I purchased it anyway b/c I want to stop using liquid foundation. Within the week, I searched eBay and bought the #5 shade (2nd darkest); it's a very good match.

Sometimes I do mix the two shades. It's good coverage, but I do have a couple of blemishes that are still discernable.

I've used it for 6 months now and never had any problems with it. In fact I consider it to be the best makeup I've ever used. I have a medium light brown complexion and use the dark foundation. I love it. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm surprised by the reviews. I am dark-skinned and wear the #8. I use a very light touch, as I prefer a sheer coverage, and this powder gets the job done. I have sensitive/combination that can breakout easily if I use the wrong products so for me this line is ideal.

I don't like wearing foundation at all, so it's really for special occasions.

I also use the mineral veil. This starts out looking a bit pale then "settles".

Cherish, I see you are in SF. I am across the bay. I went to the Bare Minerals counter in SF and had them sit down and try and try to find a shade that matched and they finally gave up. Good for you for being able to get a shade that matched because I had been really interested in switching that type of make up. I have given up though.

Ohhh, the SF one couldn't match you? I went to the Valley Fair one and they couldn't match me and I thought it was just cause I was in VF. Oh well. It felt great on but I was disappointed that they couldn't match me- I wear an NC50 in MAC which really isn't that dark so I was amazed that they didn't have a color dark enough for little ole me.

Candycane, I went to the one in Pier 39. I don't know if they still have one in there. The lady was very helpful and patient.

So the Valley Faire couldn't match you? That is where I was planning to go, but we'll see.

That was me who went to Valley Fair and they couldn't match me. This was a few days after Christmas so hopefully they have gotten a few darker shades in stock.

I actually have the #8 which is a little dark on me but i only use a lil bit/ i think it's an excellent product becaus it doesn't make ur face look made up, but it just looks better. i plan on buying the next lightest shade to mix in with the one i have now. also, for the last couple of days, i've only been using the mineral veil (a tiny bit) and it just zaps the shine like u wouldnt believe.

I'm about to purchase a sample kit of #5 and # 8 from ebay for 12 dollars, my question is,does it matter what brush I buy to put it on? RIght now I wear IMAN liquid foundation in Clay #3, just a little to cover up a few blemishses (one bottle lasts over a year) and I'm looking for something really natural looking. For you ladies that wear it, do you think this would work for me? And do you have any suggestions on which brush I should get? Not looking to spend a lot of money until I know for sure if I like it.

<font color="purple">I'm in the market of buying the mineral foundation through yahoo shopping. I don't like to wear foundation at all, and I stopped using it back in 2003. For my color, I would wear #5 because I have a natural tan. The Dark shade would not be right for my color.

I love this make-up. I used to use the deep, but then I purchased Warmth, which is actually a brozer like shade, and it matches my skin perfectly since I have slightly reddish yellow undertones. So noew I used Warmth as my foundation powder. Makes my skin look flawless. I love this stuff!
